I know very little about the politics and fashion of men's swimwear. When someone says "speedos" to me, I think of those all over body suits that are made from lycra. Although when I look at my own togs, which are like a pair of short trousers, with a pull-string waist and pockets, I see they are speedos too.

I've rewritten some of the introducing section to infer how Speedos can be a generic term for many types of swimwear now

According to Gnomon - and the official website - these close-fitting speedos aren't the only style they make, so it might need a tweak to the title.
