Is a goth tale with a King of the Cats (such a king as there may be among cats, that is) named Tobermory. I was always wondering where such an odd word as it came from and stored it in the back of my mind until the word came up again, and here it is. Now I know!

The cynical writer Saki (HH Munroe) wrote a short story called Tobermory, in which a cat of that name was granted the ability to speak. He proceded to make himself very unpopular with the residents and visitors to the big house where he lived by describing in detail who was sleeping with whom, what people said about each other behind their backs and so on.

Even cooler! I got unknowingly subjected to a smidgen of lit er uh chur and actually enjoyed it.
Just about all of the cats in CCatCM talk, just not to humans unless they really like them. And as to who is sleeping with whom, they are curious enough to find out (they *are* cats), but keep their own counsel.

No.
Tobermory means "Mary's Well", by the way. And it's talking about a hole in the ground full of water, not reporting on the health of Mary.
