h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

So, it's been a few years now since I've been taking a competitive exam every year to go up the ladder at work.
It doesn't necessarily involve changing jobs or getting more responsibility, but it does mean better pay and the *perspective* of more responsibility after the *next level* exam.

Every year until last year, I failed at the written part, didn't even get to take the oral test.
Last year, I did well in the written part, and then completely flunked the oral.
This year, I did well in the written part, and thought I did okay at the oral...

Fast forward to Thursday afternoon, when the results were published.
They were taking 8 people out of the 15 that took the oral.
I was number 9.

Then on Friday, I got a call from HR : they are actually taking 2 more people than was planned.


Yay me !


So that means I'm going to have a 2.5-month training session from April on, on the other side of the country (pretty much all expenses paid).
And then, I'll be back to my workplace, all ready to use my newly-acquired superpowers.

paulh, I don't drink alcohol, but I did have a very nice Japanese dinner celebration, on my own. It was perfect. (I will be celebrating with friends in the coming week, though).

TC, I'm in Champagne country, I'll be going to Bordeaux country.

Champagne is southwest, Bordeau is northeast.
