So for those of you who still remember who I am, Lainey has officially now gone full term. This means there could be a baby Skanky any moment now, though the due date is not until 9th December. To answer the most common question: we don't know the gender of the baby and, to give our most usual response, we hope to find out on the day. Ho, ho, ho.

Thanks to everyone who replied to my last journal - I did read the replies but my time 'sitting by the computer' is so limited now I really don't have much time to talk. Every day that passes now is one we 'tick off', we seem to be in a weird kind of stasis counting down the time before we become three. She is utterly exhausted and I can't wait until the baby comes so we can share some of the load.

I miss you all here on h2g2, I wish I could put the time in that I used to even up until eight or nine months ago but life has really changed now! I'll let you know as soon as there is any news smiley - smiley

We miss you.

But your prioritisation seems to be in good order.

Don't forget to breathe.

Trout,

I noticed today your reply to my last email was in my spam box. I haven't had chance to apologise yet (alright, but I've had time to post on h2g2). It's good to know my 'tache is probably better than yours, even if your prospects are probably better than mine smiley - smiley

Full term, and now waiting, won't bore you with my statistics re childbirth but smiley - goodluck to Lainey when it all kicks off...and you for the hand-holding and reassuring tone of your voice, by the way have you heard her swear at you before? If not, brace yourself as she may let rip. Otherwise, enjoy the ride, it's an experience you'll never forget and be the beginning of a lifetime bond. Expect a rollercoaster of emotions (and a few tears shed) but do take your time to get to know the little fella. He's a newbie too, as well as you both, but you'll learn together! Plenty of Aunties here if you're ever worried about anything, smiley - smiley

Lots of smiley - love to you all, and keep us posted!smiley - ok

Rich, i will be thinking of you both. The last few weeks are usually a bind but it will all be over soon and you can enjoy your little bundle of 24/7 love and fun, that's after the downside when sleep becomes a forgotten dream smiley - smiley

I hope the little one comes before the due date as you will have more time to recover before Christmas - you couldn't have a nicer smiley - gift.

Gnomon - time to move on

Whatever happens, Rich, remember it gets easier after about 6-8 weeks, and easier again at about 3 years, then you have a lull until about age 9 (for girls) or 11 (for boys), then you have about 6 to 8 years of hell, then you've miraculously produced a new human being who can converse like an adult and can look after themselves.

What everyone else said smiley - smiley Thanks for all the encouragement and advice!

I am indeed Movembering, Bea - my MoSpace is at http://uk.movember.com/mospace/1037214/ and I will be scheduling the next exciting update on the length of my facial hair sometime tomorrow smiley - smiley

We really can't wait, to be honest, folks. We've been together for 12 years now but we spent the first 8 or 9 just arsing about, having fun, travelling. It was quite a big deal for us to decide to settle down a bit, get married and start a family. Hopefully we'll make a good job of it.

Rich, that is the best way to do it, people are far too impatient to 'commit' these days without really understanding what it involves.

I am sure you will make brilliant parents, and there will be plenty of advice, commiserations and encouragement on here should you need it.
