Reason for posting x-rated.

It looked like we were going to repeat a very small range of words and some proper nouns beginning with X. I was trying to expand the word range. In a previous post in the old telegram game I even 'apostrophised' a word with x as its second letter. I can't remember what it was now but something like 'xcited.

I know it sounds like I'm being defensive but I would like people to decide on the merits of the individual telegram whether they want to be hard on the English or not. People can always not vote for a gram that is not to their liking.

I will accept whatever the consensus is and withdraw it if it causes further concern.

Withdraw it? I see no need for that. I think we're just wondering here. Not suggesting that anything needs to be done.

I agree, MM was just asking a question, to clearify rules for future telegrams, nobody complained about your post

I'm not at all unhappy or concerned by this but I do want to be fair. When there is one of the "high scoring Scrabble (tm) letters" in a word it could reduce the number of entries as people struggle for any words to fit.

I'm happy for people to be creative so long as the meaning is clear.

I would also be happy if there were a strict rule about only using unhyphenated words which appeared in a named dictionary.

I think hyphenated words like x-rated or x-ray should be ok as they are in common use.

And I agree with that statement!

Thanks all for clearing up the descrepency. As I mentioned in the posting, I had accepted it as taking X-rated as one word, and asked purely as a clarification point.

This is a request . Could it be decided which order votes are posted please, as a Gamer has pointed out that I have made an error in the Roll of Honour which, looking back on, appears true. I wonder if I had miscounted due to reversing the order, ie: 1st, 2nd, 3rd....or 3rd, 2nd, 1st, or 3 pts, 2 pts, 1 pt, or 1 pt, 2 pts and 3 pts. It is just that I feel guilty about giving incorrect results, and possibly raising or lowering Gamers' positions. It will be corrected on the next round, after having been double-checked.
Anyway, that is my fault. However I was wondering, to simplify the process, if a decision could be made on the order of voting.
Apologies for all affected. I think it is only two people affected.....Please see the next round of (corrected) results on A2664614 next Monday/Tuesday.

Oooooh another decision! I love it.

How about we don't mention points but just say Gold, Silver or Bronze and MMF remembers that Gold is 3 Silver is 2 and Bronze is 1? I can understand that 1 gets 3 while 3 gets 1 can be confusing especially if the order changes depending on the voters.

I think I'll hold the suggestion for single transferrable votes and proportional representation for another thread.

Hi all. Can I have clarification on the voting time-scale please. telegram_sam's site says voting thurs-friday, but I thought it had been extended for the whole weekend. I ask as last week's word, COURAGE, had had no votes by Tuesday, so I suggested extending it for this week only, but this threw up a query as to time-scale!
I look forward to a healthy debateand response. Also how can I get more people to play, as there where only ten nominations this week.....

If you can manage, perhaps it could be til Mondays ?
Perhaps it's just the words sometimes making it difficult to play ?
