Well, another October over and another significant year older. If life begins at 40 I should be behaving like a ten year old - according to one of the cards.
Another quite rightly says that this is the point in my life when I have more hair on my bum than I do on my head. But don't worry I won't show you.

Hi! Does that mean you are a fellow Scorp? I still have a week to go, then I tip the scales the other side of 40.
Look on the bright side. As you slide through your Naughty Forties, you will rapidly approach your Nifty Fifties.
Anyway, hope you enjoyed yourself. I certainly intend to....

I am a nifty 50 - hence acting like a 10 year old!
Have a Happy Birthday MMF.

Ooh, people were wishing me well and talking to me and I didn't notice!
I'll be really glad when this year is over. Two of my uncles died within a month of each other and yesterday Mrs Vestie had a car crash. Driving between Slough and Maidenhead on the A4 when a car came out of a side road without looking. Mrs V tried to swerve but clipped the car causing her to hit the central crash barrier and spin. She hit the steering wheel with her head and now has a terrible shiner. Why didn't the air bag go off?
We think the car is written off but the insurance company will have to make that call. Apparently the damage goes right down one side and across the front. And the front wheels now point in different directions.
I'm so glad she was wearing a seat belt!

Sorry to hear about your rubbish year, I hope next year is much better for you.
I hope Mrs Vestie is feeling better soon too

Thanks folks. Mrs V went back to work in the hire car and seems to be coping well. Sense of humour has partially returned and she is telling everyone that I beat her. Har-har... ?
We got a standard letter back from other parties insurance company saying Mrs V is alleged to be responsible. Mrs V immediately rings witnesses to see what they say. They confirm that there was nothing she could have done.
I told a couple of friends about this and they confirmed that this is standard practice. One even gives me an horrendous story of how he was stationary at non-working traffic lights when a car collided with a lorry forcing the lorry to collide with my mate's car. This forces him 3 lanes sideways. The car driver was unconscious and my friend got him out of the car and brought him round in the recovery position. He, later, got a letter from the car driver's lawyers saying that the accident was my mate's fault!
I felt much better about the whole thing after that.
