I'm starting up a virtual band on h2g2.
Our name is 'Kkktssh!' and we've named it after the sound a bourbon/scotch/rum bottle makes when you open it. (We were going to call it 'FfooOMP!' -a port bottle- but that just sounded ridiculous)
So far in the band is myself on saxophone, key boards, piano accordian and kazoo and the other members are... well...
Who wants to join the band?

Any room in here for an old rock/country player? I can beat on just about anything you want played, just ain't too good at any of them!(Jack of all trades, master of none!)

I just discovered this band thing. I was in a band about ten years ago and we toured and cut an album and stuff, which (after we split up) left me in abject poverty for about errrmm ten years and counting actually
I'm a singer, but I can play guitar and program MIDI sequencers and stuff. Favourite bands right now are Super Furry Animals, Spiritualized, Underworld, Charlatans and loads more.
Older stuff I'm into is Zappa, The Rutles, Joy Division, Kate Bush, Nick Drake, Roy Harper, Led Zep and the Floyd and all the early Punk stuff like Buzzcocks, Clash etc. but my favourite tune is the 2nd Movement from Beethoven's 7th Symphony, so I've got a pretty wide taste in music.
I don't know if you want to really make any music, but you can send me MIDI files or stuff at [email protected]
One little project is TV Frink's baseball team "The Rambling Misfits" probably need a catchy song to go into battle with...
Cheers,
The Wisest Fool

To be really honest Oh Wize But Foolish One, my speciality instrument is the tennis raquet, of which I have strummed out many a Led Zep tune in my youth.
But that won't stop me here!
And anyone who enjoys Frank Zappa, The Rutles, Kate Bush et al is okay by me. I've been teased mercilessly for having those CDs in my collection!
Fairly Strange, if your taste in country/western truly is of the OLD variety, you're in. None of the new stuff.
MadMunk, never have I heard such powerful singing. You're on lead vocals.
Shazz, flute is cool but if you want keyboards, you can have 'em.
Anyone want to be drummer and be the butt of everyone else's jokes?

lead vocals? cooooll....
I'm fine with that, but can i at least hold my guitar in a low slung kinda way.... and mime a bit? I like the old stuff too.....
Led Zep and Dire Straights a favourite of mine.....
oo yes, and hendrix,.... don't forget hendrix.....

Yeah let's take on the world.
BTW can we ban the key of G major? I have this hang up about D suspended 4 chords. They always creep in and they are the work of the jingly-jangly Devil

Wowbagger Posted Sep 4, 1999
Okay by me... suspended 4 chords sounds painful anyway.
Any ideas for a first song? I think "I Killed Bambii II" has a nice ring to it but if there are any aspiring song writers out there (and you know who you are) get those keyboards tapping!

*I Killed Bambi 2* does have a certain ring to it.......but shouldn't we go for an h2g2 theme first??*Anthem to Pan Galactic Gargle Blasters*,maybe,as a start??

Yes, but by the time everyones sampled the effects of one to get some inspiration, they'll be too ratted to compose anything.....
Sounds like fun

Get some e-groupies. That's my advice. I can't play anythin, but I can whistle reasonably well.

Whistling on E - that sounds like Happy Hadcore House to me and I personally would rather not have anything to do with that

'fraid not. I lived in Milton *bastard* Keynes (AKA City My Arse) for two years and prefeed to run away and hide in London, Oxford or Leeds at every available opportunity. Went to Roadmenders a couple of times, but mostly went to Brixton Fridge to get off my nut to Goa trance.
I did go go-kart racing and bowling in Bletchley though...which was nice.

Is there anything left for me to play? I could do flute or piano (whichever one shazz isn't doing) or saxaphone...or I could do some funky lights for the shows if you want?!?
Key: Complain about this post
