The Special Olympics is a great event. I'm glad you got to participate. I have only ever been to it on the local level. But you're right about the feeling of good will present.

It's not quite the same thing but every so often we get a parade of Veterans in our town, the majority of the people turn out to applaud them on thier march to the town hall, makes you feel proud to honour men who have honour

Hmmm.... as a 'veteran' myself, I'd rather forget about having lived in a country that still has to fight for its existance and force mandatory service...

I may also start buying myself a birthday pressie every year.

Yes, these weird people always shout at me for saying what I want for Christmas, and so refuse to get it 'coz it's not a surprise. But I don't LIKE surprises. I like the things I want.

Well, I did it this year and I'm very happy I did. Got meself a rocking chair. All I wanted was this set that teaches you how to crochet, I even chose one and showed it to my mother-in-law, whom I thought will get it for me. Then on Christmas I sat there, opening present after present and it never came.

My mom has a hard time getting around in the shops these days. So this year she gave everyone money. So now I get to buy myself something else I actually want. I haven't decided what I'll get yet. Probably something for my garden.

Oh, nice! My mum usually gives us annoying things, like far too big underwear and socks... she's not too good with gifts.
