As a *huge* Julie Andrews fan, I am happy to report that today is a special day indeed. In the musical "My Fair Lady," Julie sang the song "Just you wait, 'enry 'iggins, just you wait!" which contained the following lines:
One day I'll be famous. I'll be proper and prim,
Go to Saint James so often, I will call it Saint Jim.
One evenin' the King will say, Oh, 'liza, old thing,
I want all of England Your praises to sing.
Next week, on the 20th of May,
I proclaim 'liza Dolittle Day!"
Isn't that great news? We can go around all day saying "aow" and "garn"

What if we already go around saying that?
Actually, I don't know that I could fit "aow" and "garn" into my accent.

I think the stage play is called "Pygmalian," and it was written by George Bernard Shaw. I've seen versions of it on TV.

"Pygmalian" ... named after the ancient Greek misogynist sculptor who carved a statue of a virgin so perfectly that he fell in love with it and cared for it tenderly. Finally he begged Aphrodite to make his statue "Galatea" real, which the goddess did, and then Pygmalian took her as his wife.
Everybody happy ... at least until the next tragic chapter.

One night Pygmalian dropped Galatea and she burst into a million billion pieces ... but since super glue hadn't been invented yet, he was unable to stick her back together .... soooooo, he made a patio out of the more interesting slabs.

He should have waited for Martha Stewart to design patio furniture for him.
