Army
Nothing much new to say except I am now one more drill away from being a fully qualified instructor. That should happen the beginning of next month. I am on stop loss so it is unclear when I will be released again but there are no trips for the military coming up except for one to PA for my two weeks this summer.
Work
Just got back into the Volunteer work at Saint Mary's and have been having lots of fun. The only problem is there is a big change in store for the next few months in my real job that will more then likely curtail my volunteer work, at least for the time being.
A job came open with my company out of Ft Lauderdale, FL
I applied for the job.
It is unclear whether or not I will get the job at this point. At first it was almost a definite but now it's up in the air due to company politics.
As it stands right now I am headed to CA next week for a class...back for a week and then that weekend to do my drill then off to FL for one month. At the end of that month in FL the hope is that I will be offered that job officially and will begin the transition down there. If not then I will be back here in CT doing my current job and my paperwork will be started for me to be come a senior tech.
I think I will just put my stuff in storage and get rid of my apartment here because even if I don't get the job down there I want to move out of my current place. That would mean if I don't get the job and I come back here that I will have to crash on my uncle's couch for a week or so, while I look for a new place. If I take the job (or I should say are offered the job and take it) then I can just fly back arrange for my stuff to be shipped to FL then get myself back down there right away. I am trying to talk my boss into letting me drive my car down there to have for that month so that I can use a day or two of vacation to stop in and see the family and possibly use a day off to get some sight seeing done . He seems to think that would be fine plus it would save them on a rental car (they would still pay me mileage for my time there and for the gas I would use for work but it still would be a lot cheaper for them) and plane tkt down. And it would give me a bit more freedom while I am down there.
The job is installing and servicing Satellite systems on ships (such as cruise ships and yachts) and things like oil rigs...lots of travel...much of it overseas...more money...and so on
What will I be doing for the month I am down there...not a clue I might be helping with their local work load or they might actually send me out somewhere from FL scary eh
Haven’t been on much in the past few months because mainly ever sense moving to the Day shift my work load has increased quite a bit and I must say….I love the fact I have more work to do…so it may be a while before I am on for another day or it may be shortly...I really don’t know

Thanks for the update.
Good luck. I was afraid that you had disappeared down the chute that leads to Saddamland. Okay, maybe that's far-fetched, and I'm glad my fears were for naught.

Good to see that even though you expect to be doing some travelling, at least you won't need to be wearing desert camo.

Yes, there are.
I thought the California trip was work related though, not Army related...

And maybe by then, Faith won't be quite so fascinated with eyes. Then again, yours are very sparkly...

Yep, they sure are.
I'm quite sure the smiley was modelled on them.
Yep, looks just like Tac's eyes.

*has no idea of American geography in the same way most Americans probably have no idea of wehre Cambridge or Suffolk is in relation to London or Glasgow, or Beccles (Which isn't ot say that I've any kind o realistic idea of the location of those places to each other anyhow!)

Well, the main thing to remember is that in the US, even if it's in the same state, it's probably *at least* a couple hours away.
If it's across the country, it's at least a 5 day drive (assuming you don't take many breaks along the way in a personal car, allow twice that by bus), or maybe 2-3 days by train, or several hours by air.

Two hours to get to another place in the same state? That may be true for Pennsylssippi or Nevada, but I'm sure that, even at rush hour, you can get from Providence to Warwick or Woonsockett in less than two hours.
Then again, what do I know?

Lady Scott Posted Feb 27, 2005
Pennsylsippi? What state is that?
I kinda forgot about those teensy states in New England, since they all seem to run together up there.
Ok, I concede that you might be able to get from one city to another there in less than 2 hours in one of the smallest states.
I was just thinking about how it takes almost 2 hours to get from my mom's place on the eastern shore of Maryland to Rockville, which is just 16 miles NW of Washington, DC - and Maryland's a smallish state.

By the way I am in FL on the one month trip...there was a bit of a delay in taking it...but I will be here till at least the 29th of April

Lady Scott, I doubt that you can drive across Chesapeake Bay, right? To get from the eastern shore, you'd need to go North and then West and finally (at some point) South.

I'm sorry I missed this the first time around! Thanks for the update tac!
It takes about an hour and a half to get to my Mom and Dad's house ... and they're in the same county!
