Hey, allow me my moment of triumph, I don't get them very often Especially when they're as a result of being nice to someone...

What, are you insane? That would a) be far too much like work, and b) spoil my image.
Besides, the often I'm nice to people, the more people will expect me to be nice. Whereas now, people are pleasantly surprised when I do something nice.
I've just been informed I'm going to London on Wed- to see Peter's father Any tips on suitable places to escape to, near (ish) St. Thomas's hospital? Only more than 30mins with him and I'll be thinking Bad Thoughts about pillows....

Hmm, where exactly is St Thomas'? I would offer to come and meet you but that is the day we are going to see ZZ Top...

That's a bummer. Never mind, I'm sure you'll have almost as much fun there
St. Thomas's is virtually next door to the eye.

Oh, well, try the eye itself, depending on queues...fantastic (and you climb so you can't be afraid of heights). Or the aquarium, if you like fishes, right next to the eye.
If you can be arsed to walk up to it, I found the Tower Bridge experience to be fascinating or for the small boy in us all the Belfast is good...
Or did you just want a pub?

I am actually scared of heights- most climbers are- that's why a lot of us do it That sounds like a feasible idea actually. Tower Bridge is a good idea too. A decent boozer would also be a good thing though

Wrong side of the river for me to be able to recommend boozers. I will talk to the guru Pearcey tonight (he's off sick atm) and get back to you tomorrow on the subject of boozers in the area.
Are you having a day off for this extravaganza?

Yep- since I finish at 1600, getting to London and back, and seeing the old man, would be a little unfeasable. I could have done it with just a half day's leave, but Bruce wants to spend the day there.

Pearcey useless on South of the River boozers as well, I'm afraid... .
You'll have to be taking pot luck...

Never mind, I know one decent one 'round the back of Waterloo Station. The Crown and Cushion, I think it was. I'll just stick it that one.

I finfd it hard to believe that anything round the benighted area of Waterlo is decent, but I'll take your word for it...

The beer was perfectly drinkable and reasonably priced, the bar staff were extremely pretty and friendly, and none of the other patrons appeared to be planning to kill me. That makes it a respectable boozer, as far as I'm concerned.

Well, unfortunately some git put St. Thomas's hospital that side of the river. And another git decided to get sent there. I'm not walking over the river into Parliament country for a beer- £3.10 a pint in a plastic pub is *not* my idea of fun.

Eww, you mean Page's Bar No thank you. I hate to thing the prices they charge. And I can't imagine real ale being on the drinks list, unless it's Romulan...
