h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

Ok, all you innocent hootooers, time to grab your and hitchhike out of here, because today, I plan to kick the world in the bum.

It looks like I'm going to have to add a semester - for the sole purpose of spending the alloted two weeks writing my thesis.

The registrar's office just handed down the dates where it's meant to be written this semester - which I won't be able to do because the professor (and the rest of the institute) will be on a field trip!

That's provided I manage to finish this semester at all. Because the prof with whom I have my main subject (designing a building, which is due in two weeks) has just decided to cancel tomorrow's appointment to talk about it and move it to....today, when I didn't have my things with me, of course... No notice, either, he just informed me when I happened to pass his door.

That means going into finals with only one discussion of what I'm doing before, since he ordered me to start over last month (along with half the rest of the class).

Fantastic organisation and efficiency. Bummer.

But hitchhike out of here? Not a chance. Wait five minutes while we put the right boots on and I'm sure we'll all be happy to lend a hand (or foot) to the bum-kicking if you like.

I always said that the Germans are useless at organising things. University staff anywhere are probably generally pretty useless at that, too - they're certainly notoriously bad at teaching.

Hope you find a way of making that annoying final semester really enjoyable. Doing some tutoring yourself perhaps?

Don't get me started on university organisation - I'm very much missing my broken knee'd tutor at the moment, although we did meet her temporary replacement today and let's just say that my 2nd term is not going as well as the 1st one, unfortunately.

However, nothing as drastic as your bombshell today. No chance of squeezing it in for Easter? Somewhere? Inventing extra days? Explain to them that you go by the h2g2 calendar and you therefore have more time?

Can you complain to someone if all else fails? This doesn't seem entirely fair - you having to add a whole term at additional cost because of their scr~wup?

Wouldn't know who to complain to Despite the fact that they're now taking so much money, they don't seem to have anyone you can talk to...

The registrar's office is open only one afternoon per week, and then they're usually not in at that time!

There's only one thing for it. I've made chocolate pudding.
