This is a good opportunity for a song cue.
Blue moon, you saw me standing alone,
Without a dream in my heart,
Without a love of my own.

So why is the second full moon of the month called a Blue Moon?
I remember seeing shots of the moon after Mount St Helens blew up. It was more a grubby green I thought Grubby Green Moon doesn't have quite the same ring to it, does it?
Gosho! I'm going to have a brainworm all day now
Blue Moon.....

That was because somebody was telling me this morning about stoats that get brainworms which make them act funny.

Acting funny is a talent. You definitely should go into show business or the cirsus.
Be a clown, be a clown,
Don't you know all the world needs a clown?
Send in the clowns,
Don;t bother, they're here.

The answer is here http://skyandtelescope.com/observing/objects/moon/article_127_1.asp
I got an error message at the link given in http://science.nasa.gov/current/event/ast30mar99_1.htm
but I pursued and nailed the article in question.
Interesting. How could they have got it so wrong? By the old definition (the third full moon when there are four in a season), a blue moon occurs once every two or three years. By what Sky and Telescope Magazine calls the "trendy" definition (the second full moon in a calendar month), it can happen twice in the same year. But the "trendy" one is (as they admit) a mistake, perpetrated by themselves.
"I messed up. Ain't that cute?"

So, there are some months when I get three paydays. That doesn't mean I have to invent a special name for the phenomenon.

But you could if you wanted to.
Besides, paydays, while wonderful, are by no means as significant as two full moons in a month.
Think about it from the POV of the people for whom it would be important.
Are we talking about two nights on which you can go poaching? Or just a Double Werewolf Month? Or what?

Really? Mrs Gosho and I have a name for those months - those are the ones when the bills get paid Those are the ones when I can afford Those are the ones when the s get tinned food instead of that dry stuff. Those are the ones when we can go out to a restaurant.
Those are the good months

The Mooninites must be enjoying the blue moon!
On the moon, the weekend has advanced beyond your wildest dreams. Weekends now take up the entire week, and jobs have been phased out accordingly. We get checks from the government. And we use them to buy beer.
