Ok, he's soured the idea somewhat by revealing that they were originally negotiating for a six figure sum with another magazine and that this deal with Big Issue may not have come about if negotiations hadn't broken down with the other publication, but more power to his elbow anyway smiley - ok

I bet his agent must be a bit dischuffed at getting 10p instead of a possible 15 grand though smiley - winkeye

Dark Side of the Goon

After he lost half a million on 'Shoreditch' I'm not surprised he wanted to flog his 40th for six figures. His bank balance has to be hurting.

So maybe that makes things a little more acceptable.

Shoreditch? You're gonna have to clue me in on that one.

Isn't Shoreditch the church whose bells sing "When I get rich"? smiley - huh

Or have things changed since 1984?

'Shoreditch' was a movie that Shane wanted to make. He wanted to make it so badly that he remortgaged his house and sank half a million fine English Pounds of his own money, Mel Gibson style, into the project.

It tanked. Not only did it tank, it tanked spectacularly. It was shown in two cinemas, it raised I think a little over two grand and then it was pulled. It tanked because it is apparently very, very bad.

Shane is now 500 grand out of pocket and hoping against all hope that the movie (which one critic described as 'fist-gnawingly bad') will make a bit of cash back on video and DVD sales.

I'll be buying it just to see if it really is that bad.

I'll look out for too - Shoreditch is one of my favourite parts of London, one with which I'm very familiar smiley - ok

Oh... Ian's reaction to that article: he's fsking stoopid. He should have taken the £150K and given that to the homeless.

Thinking it over, that probably would have been more productive and done them more good smiley - sadface

This is true... seems PF knows more about the media than I do, and I'm in the media!!!

It also gets free advertising for The Big Issue, which will hopefully raise sales AND public consciousness about the magazine and its purpose, which has to be a good thing. The free advertising is possibly better than a donation, especially if it gets people stopping when they meet a Big Issue seller instead of turning away and walking past.
