What lovely people. If the gypsies are given somewhere to live, and abide by the law, then why shouldn't they live in this community? When I ws in my teens our local community had plans for a gypsy site scuppered, for much the same motives. Of course, if the site *had* been built it would have alleviated many of the problems which already existed.

Do you know where the Hell House is, Gosho?
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/magazine/3222159.stm
I really think you should pay it a visit.

Felonious Monk - h2g2s very own Bogeyman Posted Oct 31, 2003
I think he should pay it a visit with a petrol can in one hand and a flaming brand in the other.
WTF?
paulh, vaccinated against the Omigod Variant Posted Oct 31, 2003
He'd have to pay it *two* visits, since
it's in two places.
But, yes, the petrol can seems appropriate.

Did you see that King of The Hill episode with the 'Hallelujah House'? At the time I thought that Mike Judge was exploring the absurdist exegesis of Christian paranoia. Now I know that he was just talking about real life
WTF?

I only see "King of the Hill" when I'm in
my local laundromat. I don't remember that
episode, though.

I did see that episode FM, yes there are many people like that in Texas, and a lot of them are in power, either in state government, local governemnt, or on all sorts of commitees and school boards. The debate as to whether creationism or evolution should be in school books in Texas is far from dead. Creationism is currently winning

And don't you just know which KOTH is on tonight... right now.
"Get out of my house! Exodus"
There are a lot of Junie Harpers around these parts.

"What in tarnation....???"
That is one episode I haven't seen. One of my fav is the one where Hank has "Propane Phobia" after being mearly blown up in the Megalomart explosion.... It has a Unitarian-isim....
PEGGY: They need your help at Buckley's wake, manning the grill.
HANK: A grill? Is it propane?
PEGGY: Of course it's propane! They're not Unitarians

It's one of the best KOTH's Mudhooks because like all the best ones, it shows Mike Judge's enormous insight into Texas life.
I don't recall the Mega-lo-mart explosion though... unless it was the end of the last series I saw in the UK and which they never show on Fox, no matter how many times they show Peggy dropping out of the plane and into the field of mud

It was the first show of season 2, I think. The explosion happened at the end of season 1 (again, I think).
Hank had been laid off from Strickland Propane and was forced to take a job at Megalomart. He was a trainee salesperson. There was a propdane explosion and LuAnne's boyfriend was killed (hence the funeral). Chuck Mangioni was playing his trumpet outside in a tent in the parking lot... The expression on HIS face after the explosion.....
My other favorite epi was the one where Hank, et al, become volunteer firemen.... The firehouse burns down and each blames the other for doing it. The chain of events is recalled by each of them.... Boomhower (sp?) recalls his version. In his mind, his speech would rival that of a professor of English. Very funny...

Yes, I remember it now Mudhooks. I saw the one where the Megolomart blew up but I never saw the following series opener. It must have been a later series than 1 though because I saw two oe three of them before I left the UK.
One of my favourite bits (which is kinda related) is the one where Hank takes on the Hawaiian high school fottball player at Strickland, who writes in one of his reports "I thank God every day that I didn't get exploded"
And I love the bit where Boomhauer speaks in perfect English while the rest of them do Boomhauer speak Do you know that the actor who provides Hank's voice also does Boomhauer?
Whats Mike Judge's obsession with Chuck Mangione btw? He's in several episodes

The American right wing scream blue murder and cite free speech and the first amendment whenever anyone tries to censor their bile, but censorship is apparently ok when the tables are turned. WTF?
Unfortunately I can't connect to the Boycott CBS site for some reason. Anyone else having the same problem?

Chuck Mangione and Willie Nelson have featured a number of times....
I get endless fun from running the opening credits in slow motion. At regular speed you miss a terrific bit of animation in the bit where Bobby falls off his bike.
Poor Bobby.... I do love the one where Bobby is practicing his seduction skills on Luanne's hairdressing dummy's head. I think he has to be my favorite character on the show.
