How about some light-hearted lyrics and songs by the Crash Test Dummies?
Here I Stand Before Me:
[chorus]
'I, I, I, oh here I stand before me
But something's out of place here
My mind's eye is missing from my body
Well I know it's there but I can't see where'
Or the solemn, yet humourous, lyrics of their song 'The Psychic':
'The first time she met me she saw right through me'
[chorus]
'All the years that have come to pass
And all the years that shall be
I see here right before me'
'She said her visions were a bane in her life
She could not control them, they kept her up nights'
'Will there be earthquakes and great tidal waves?
Can she see back to the dinosaur days?
How can she foresee just by squinting at me and
Can she see me naked in her mind's eye?'
Or the outright funny, yet tragic, lyrics for 'Coming Back Soon (The Bereft Man's Song)':
'Mornings we have toast and tea
I gaze across the table, she glares right back at me'
All of these lyrics, and more, can be found at www.crashtestdummies.com.
Maybe not exactly what you were looking for, but you didn't just want lyrics of people crying their eyes out because of unrequited love and cheating partners...

You're just too good to be true.
Can't take my eyes off of you
You feel like heaven to touch
Ooh I want to hold you so much.
My eyes adored you
Though I never laid a hand on you my eyes adored you.
Like a million miles away from me you couldn't see how I adored you.
So close, so close and yet so far away.
You can't hide from lying eyes
And your smile is a thin disguise
I thought by now you'd realise
There ain't no way to hide from lying eyes.
Cause the night has a thousand eyes
And a thousand eyes can't help but see
If you are true to me
So remember when you tell those little white lies
That the night has a thousand eyes.
Somebody's watching me
Now I'm nervous and I shouldn't be
Somebody's got their eye on me
Perhaps I should invite him in for tea
How's that.

Ehhh.. sbe, I think you've mixed the Lying eyes lyrics up a bit.. It's not "from lying eyes", it's "your lying eyes"...
Which in case makes the second line about the smile being a thin disguise seem as it makes a whole lot more sense, don't it?

all these smart cookie people I know
Apologise it took me so long to get online, only been in the door 20 minutes cause stayed late to finish stuff at college...and if anyone's interested to see what I've been up to and is on my IM list, well, I'll try and be online at about ten and you can have a look. Then again is anyone that bored or interested is kinda cool to see how much I've moved on in 5 weeks
And EE, you go on for as long as you want
Right, well, I'm gonna go have my tea, put something on this burn on my wrist (OUCH) and I'll be online around 9 0r 10 if my ickle sis ain't online
it's that little souvenir of a terrible year
which makes my eyes feel sore
oh I never should have said, the books that you read
were all I loved you for
it's that little souvenir of a terrible year
which makes me wonder why
and it's the memories of your shed that make me turn red
surprise, surprise, surprise

You're right!!! It's from my years teaching Japanese students English. One of the other teachers on the JET scheme that I was on used to do parodies of famous songs. One such was Gaijin Eyes from the local word for foreigner. It bemoaned the virtual impossibility of getting a reply to even the simplest questions!! It went like this
You can't hide from Gaijin Eyes
And your smile is a thin disguise
I thought by now, you'd have answered twice
So don't give me those azakashi eyes!
Azakashi means something close to bashful by the way.
As you gathered I'm always getting my lyrics mixed up.
