You might be seeing a bit less of me from now on
Number Six Started conversation Jun 27, 2004
I've been trying to sort out my life recently, and I've realised I need to be setting aside time for some other things that I'm mainly spending on h2g2 at the moment. So I'm going to hand in my Scout's badge and this round of picks will be my last. It's been hugely enjoyable, and I hope to carry on serving the guide as a writer and occasional contributor to PR.
I'm going to be trying to spend less time on here in general, as well as in PR, and am planning to unsubscribe from a lot of the places where I usually hang out.
I'm going to carry on running the Geographical Entry society (A1286886)
until I can find someone else to take it over from me, so if anyone fancies that, do let me know.
You've all been lovely.
Cheers,
Number Six

Hi Number Six,
Firstly: Don't Go!
Secondly, realising that you have to and that RL gets in the way for all of us at one point or another, thank you very much for all your contribution, inspiration and help along the way. In particular, you've been a most excellent Scout and you've always been absolutely professional in the way that you've conducted yourself about the site. I hope that you don't disappear completely - make sure that you do drop by occasionally and keep us up to date with how things are going. I just know that you're too much of an addict to disappear overnight - I've always valued your opinion and hope that it's still around from time to time...
Whoami?

Being one of the Researchers I've (not so) secretly used as shining examples of 'how to do hootoo' you will be missed
Say hi to RL for the rest of us!

Glad to hear that we're not losing you completely, Six. You won't be giving up Fantasy Football, will you?

Sorry to hear that you're handing in the badge mate (and I changed my tag last night, before I read your first post btw ), but glad that you'll still be around

Oi! Six, we all have real lives, just don't let yours completely dominate your time. This little virtual world, this ark, is an awfully good place to unwind on, don't completely turn your back on it. Besides, we'd miss you and how else would I know when to tune into the BBC on the web to search for your dulcet tones telling me which nth ranked football team thrashed which?

Ach! That's a nuisance
I do hope that your popping in from time to time will be quite frequent. All the best, and you'll be missed

Good luck sorting out your life, Six
Don't spend *too* much time in the real world - it's scary out there

Glad you'll still be around from time to time, we all take a break occasionally
You shouldn't have to give up the Geographical Society unless you just want to. It doesn't take that much time to actually 'run', does it? Besides, it's a good excuse to keep coming back on a semi-regular basis.
All the best to you, Six!

Boy, I wish I had some free time to pick up some of the slack that'll be left with one of the greats leaving scouting...
I never could understand how anyone could turn their back on hootoo, until I just had to last week. So I don't blame you Six. But when Real Life is good and sorted, we expect you back, okay?

NumberSix,
You know you can't leave. At least, not until you tell us why you resigned from the Secret Service.
But if you do manage to get past the Rover, enjoy life on the outside.

Oh... real life can get in the way sometimes can't it
Still, it's not as if you're going to just disappear from the face of the Earth
Good luck

Yeah, finding the balance between real life, work and time spent behind a computer = not always easy.
I can relate to that.
My tactic for not spending too much time on here is focusing on the bits that interest me at that point - it was PR for a while and then UG, now more the Post.

Thanks for the kind words, everyone
One day later here I am, and I can't resist popping in to see what's going on... the main thing I suppose is not to end up spending another entire morning here So I'm certainly not going to disappear completely
Oh, and for the benefit of Gnomon - I refuse to be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered. My life is my own

Just don't be surprised if your front door starts opening itself and you find you've gained a very small butler...

That'd be handy... I could use that big black hearse as well - I'm moving my bed and sofabed out of my old flat today, and I'm wondering whether I can enough of them will fit into the car to be able to even half-close the tailgate and tie it shut with a rope.
