I'm not getting defensive!
The 'ego' was also a joke.
I don't get defensive, usually, I just say 'oh. How?'
But it isn't the most flattering when someone says it isn't bad but they'd rather not be associated with...

Well, look, I can be honest and try to give what advice I can, or I can flatter you... well, I *could've* flattered you if you hadn't made this sort of personal by asking me to stand up in public and effectively promote your story and have my name on it.

I wasn't asking you to promote it, I was asking if you wanted to introduce it seeing as you suggested the story's initial idea.
I just thought it would an interesting touch.
*ahem*
What is your opinion on it then?

Awix Posted Aug 28, 2003
That's a rather fine distinction - introducing without promoting it? Hmmm.
And I've told you what my opinion is, pretty much - there are some good ideas there but I think it needs some polishing and a bit more idea of what it's actually supposed to be.

HEY!! Could you not think of something less insulting than Jar-jar Binks??
IMPORTANT!
Awix Posted Sep 1, 2003
It's supposed to be insulting in a funny way. Jar Jar's a very popular character, you know - look at all those pencil cases, lunch boxes, commemorative plates and so on in all the pound shops.
Okay, your story. At the moment it's trying to be a generic superhero spoof and a Spidey origin spoof at the same time, and it could do with really only being one or the other. Plus, and this is just my opinion, it didn't seem to have that many laughs in it. Sorry.
More detailed evaluation available on request...

But I spent a long time with a tape recorder editing the end of Empire Stikes Back with Vader saying:
'No, I am your father, Jar-Jar Binks.'
'No... That's not true.. THAT'S IMPOSSIBLE!'
'Mesa called jar-Jar Binks.'
'Noooooooooooooooooooooo!'
I'm not particularly bothered about Binks, but i'm aware that few like the character!
Well... the story's not supposed to be a laugh-a-minute kind of thing. I just wanted to mock the stylre that they seem to follow... ie. The exclamations at the end of every sentence! Unless a question...

'More detailed evaluation is available on request'
Would you be willing to let me in on this more detailed evaluation?
IMPORTANT!
Awix Posted Sep 2, 2003
I hope you made it clear the word 'responsible' is to be interpreted in the broadest possible and non-legally binding sense...
Um, yeah, okay - it'll probably be closer to the weekend before I get back to you with this as I'm busy tomorrow evening and I feel obliged to do it right...
Mutual tolerance I presume...
