well, he wasn't a very good Marshall, anyway (I saw the movie, too). Irving, did you really call Val Kilmer movies "culture"?

I think if I were shot in the groin I'd just as soon it be fatal.

Me, too. And I didn't mean to say that Val Kilmer was culture, I was talking about knowledge of Old Western history. I guess if you know about the Gunfight at the O K corral, and you've actually been to Tombstone, you can remember the name of Val's character easier. They've got a head stone down in Tombstone that reads: here lies Lester Moore, took three slugs from a .44, no less, no Moore.

And does anyone see it as ironic that this forum has been about almost nothing but gunfighters?

I never saw it.

I've never seen the movie (I've never even heard of it) but since when has it been a requirement for anything to have to do with anything else?

I'm sure we could find something to talk about other than guns if we tried...teddy bears, pizza, Doritos, farming, pickled beets, writing software, take-home finals, coyotes...something...

I think my teddy bears are still up in Phoenix. It's a shame, though, as it's always nice to have a friend.

I've got two teddies. One is a small one given to me by my High School Drama teacher when we did "A Curious Savage". Anyone who knows the play will remember the reference. The other was given to me by my first girlfriend. Come to think of it, I haven't seen that one in a while. Anyway, the only stuffed creature from my childhood -- in fact, the first present I ever recieved -- was a bunny named Becky. No, wait, I had a larger bear, too. His name I can't spell because he was named after the place we got him, which was fun to pronounce but I wouldn't even attempt writting it out. He's patchwork. I think he's in my parent's house, somewhere, but not with the rest of them. Seems like he got torn somewhere at some point...

How many of you have arms at the front (or back)?

I'll fess up too, I guess. No teddy bears here, but I still have a (rather bedraggled) Eeyore, who has long since lost his tail. Let's see, he must be, um, er, about 30 years old now.

Run from the Gun

Post 35

I don't mean to make you feel old, ffmike, but that Eeyore is older than me by about twelve years. Which is over half my life, so it probably seems alot longer to me than it does to you.

Don't worry, I'm perfectly capable of feeling old without your help.

Oddly enough, turning 40 this year was no big deal -- just another day. I occasionally catch myself thinking that middle age has begun and it's all downhill from here, but usually I'm too busy to worry about it.

And on the internet, no one knows you're a fogey smiley - smiley

I sometimes wonder whether the character of the net will change in, say, 30 years, when most people just assume everyone is on it.

Well, I suppose that 40 is no where near as big a number as 50. I used to think that 55 was old. But now I'm thinking you can be much nearer to 70 without actually being old.

Sorry, I've never concidered 33 "old". If you don't mind my asking, Jester, how old are you (can I expect a straight answer?)
