More H2G2 crankiness on my part, engendered by a careless mistake in editing one of the entries that I wasn't able to unsubmit. I think I might be a little less active here until I'm calmed down about this.

Normal day. Did galley reviews on a chapter, wrote a little, worked on the duck villa. Looking forward to doing some planting next week if the weather stays good; cold-weather crops like spinach and parsnips can probably be started about the first of March here.

Well, one chicken has given up setting a clutch of eggs, but another one has started, so we might get chicks in a few weeks anyhow. Or maybe we'll have to buy some bantams or an incubator to get the job done. One thing for sure, now that we have a good-sized flock complete with roosters, I can't see buying day-old chicks again.

New releases of software today: H2G2User and MetaWatcher. It was restful to just do some programming with a light rain going on outside.

The highlight of the day was a doctor's visit to make sure the pregnancy was still going well. It is. We got to hear the heartbeat again, but no pictures till next visit. Dana also felt the baby move for the first time today. This gets more real by the moment.

Also did some puttering, both on the computer and in the yard. Made up a big batch of whole wheat egg bread dough in a "bread bucket" that came down from my grandmother.

Today there was an attempt to enforce the H2G2 rule of "if you can't say something nice about someone, don't say anything at all". In honour of this attempt, I would like to say a few things about some of my fellow Researchers:

In other news, I finished an article for _Smart Access_ magazine today. First decent piece of writing I've done in a week. Also did author reviews on another chapter. Perhaps the slump is finally drawing to a close. About bloody time.

Also tonight we went to another birthing class. Saw a lovely film about C-section deliveries, practiced pain control distraction methods, and tried out more labor positions. The dad's main position appears to be "anywhere that mom can give him a good kick in the shins".

Back to the salt mines -- I finished off a bit of work for Microsoft (as far as it COULD be finished, anyhow; they'll be back to me for more tweaks, I'm sure) and did edits on some chapters for the Windows Installer book. Fun fun fun. Also started an article, but didn't get very far on it. Oh well, perhaps tomorrow.

We also put some siding on the duck villa and worked out how to frame the windows for it.
