You're once again not subscribed to your entry which features the FP today
Congratulations, it's a wonderful entry

No,no, I completely misunderstood, as you can tell
Looks as if your journal has mutated to an advertising space for entries people have submitted to PR
Gotcha !

I don't mind if they're bloody good ones, which they are - it's like being shown kids homework 'look what I did!!!' It's great to see people being so proud of their Entries!
Gotcha !

Yes, it is, yet it's something I'm just not capable of doing - but who knows, maybe I will be, one day

Is that what you think?

There's three great Entries, for starters - don't be so hard on yourself!

Thank you, it's just that I'd feel embarrassed if I 'advertised' them. It's hard to explain, really, but when I actually told a few people, I later had the impression that they felt somehow obliged to comment, being my friends; which was not my intention, so I have now decided not to mention to anybody anymore if I write an entry.

Aha! Now it's me completely misunderstanding
I think most of the people 'advertising' have written quite a lot of Entries and suddenly remembered what a buzz it is to have written something they're *really* proud of. It's nice to see, but I know not everyone wants to shout about their achievements
It's good, this , you know!

There's enough of it where this came from
I'm really waiting for the first Federweißer
I have no idea though whether it will be a good year for wine, or rather a bad year, because of the weather - at first, it was cold and wet for ages, then there was a drought for weeks, then back to cold and wet, and now, it's finally sunny and warm again.
But there's still - btw, the very first must of the apples is called 'Süßer', because it's very sweet. ( Not unlike Federweißer)

It's a shame you can't go to the Meet, you'd have been the most popular person there with a good quantity of all that!
We've got three types of in Devon; dry, dryer and rough. All three taste faintly of straw

The , or apple wine, isn't sweet, just the first pressed juice before it becomes apple wine. We have various sorts here, depending on the region where the apples are from ( mostly from 'Streuobstwiesen' - which means that the apple trees are mainly left to themselves, no fertiliser, pesticides or insecticides are used, they're mainly old apple sorts)- but I'm probably boring you with all those details

Are any sugars added to the wine, or does the alcohol come from the natural sweetness of the apples? I've often wondered if there's enough naturally to make a strongish drink; our ciders go from about 6-8%, which I've always presumed is about the limit.
Boring? We're discussing apple alcohol here, me dear

To be honest, I can't remember if sugar is added, but I don't think so. I have done a guided tour through a -what's the name for the places where apple wine is produced ? I can't find a translation for 'Kelterei'.
Anyway, we tasted I don't know how many different s, the even did sme sparkling apple wine. A special sort is the 'Speyerling', where the fruit of the Speyerling is added and gives it a very special flavour. The S. looks like a tiny apple, but isn't an apple at all, but belongs to the family of the medlars (?).

Sorry, have been making curry and chapatis!
Doesn't sound like they do add sugar, then; always tastes better without, somehow
Could a Speyerling be what we call a crab apple over here? Small and sour?
Gotcha !
aka Bel - A87832164 Posted Sep 6, 2006
I found 'service tree' or 'sorb tree' ( I misspelled it, it's spelled: 'Speierling' .
I've found this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Service_Tree
and this:

That's quite interesting, that they were made into an alcoholic drink here, too!
Maybe an idea for an Entry in there...
Sorry by the way; have been eating curry!
Gotcha !

Hope you liked the curry ( but as you've made it yourself, you couldn't admit if you didn't like it anyway ). Seems like Jen's wanting to write an entry about The Cerne Abbas Giant - I've read some interesting info about him, and have seen great pics an the internet

Ooh, it was great - my first home-made chapatis too
So I see - she's asked me about it too now, but I'm probably not going to be much help really. He's a real looker, that boy, isn't he
