Hi Rich, another entry on the FP today
And another one with a beautiful blob Both done by Jimster, btw - any ideas how I could bribe him to get a blob for one of my entries ?
On second thoughts, scratch that, I'm sure there's no way anyway.
Have you seen VV's message in the sub's forum ? And Sereph has deleted her entry about that song - and I had thought hootoo was quiet at the moment
How did youi make the chapati ? I'm convinced I'd only manage to burn it
Gotcha !
Skankyrich [?] Posted Sep 7, 2006
I was subscribed to that one!!!
Actually, I was quite proud of that Entry. I only wrote it when I was reading about John Muir - I'd known before that there were six billion before and none now - but he described a flock taking fourteen hours to fly over. Imagine that! If I had got up at 5am to see the first one flying over, I'd still have 3/4 of an hour before the last one disappeared. I was so amazed by this I had to research an Entry.
Jim's British. Offer him appelwine in that accent, and he'll be putty in your hands
These things all do tend to happen at once, though; PR does go in big cycles...
The chapati is dead easy, actually. Just a couple of handfuls of wholegrain wheat flour and a little salt, and *tries to work out* 125ml of water or so added very slowly - you make the dough by making a caldera and mixing it gently. Then you knead it; it should be slightly elastic when you finish. You leave it for half an hour to relax (by 'relax' I presumed it meant 'have a glass of and watch the cricket for a bit') undr a damp cloth. Then you divide it into four, make it as flat as you can and fry it with a tiny bit of vegetable oil just as you would a pancake. Dead easy
Think I'm off for a in a mo; I've just dredged the pond again

I really hope the pond story will find a good ending soon
I'm just haveng a , but not cooking bread, though
>>I was subscribed to that one!<< - How do you expect me to know ? I posted to the one yesterday, but mayinly because I had only ever skimmed it in PR. The Passenger Pigeon I followed right from the beginning
Enjoy your

It's ok, I was just delighted that I'd remembered to subscribe to it!

You're right, hope many people read it and left a comment, it's so fascinating, and so tragic.
Nice mixture of great entries on the FP for the weekend, should be something there for everybody.
I'm sorry that the pond seems to be bottomless, so to say. Behind my parent's home, there used to be a sort of moat, dug to drain the land around, and it was pond-like, we used to play there in summer, catching sticklebacks and frogs - but we always made sure that we didn't fall into the water
Maybe the roots that I don't like lakes lie there - no problem being at or on a lake - but in a lake ? No, thank you.

I could agree for the most part, but I love swimming in clear cold Dartmoor rivers Actually, nothing makes me feel as close to the world as that!
Gotcha !
aka Bel - A87832164 Posted Sep 9, 2006
No probs with rivers, the river was only a few yards away, sometimes, when they had closed the flood barrage at low tide, we even could swim to the other side, was a bit like reaching a 'foreign' country . There has always been a rivalry between Eiderstedt ( where I lived) and Dithmarschen (across the river)- we had a bit of both, because our dad was from Dithmarschen
But the water in rivers is always running, and in most lakes, it's not, and the algae and things in a lake are just too scary for me

'You know, Rich, your current tagline says it all, although I don't think I need to be told at the moment'
Why, what's up?

Have you seen the posts in the scouts forum ? I really hate to see good people leave, even if I knew that Matt would commence studies in September, but I guess some things said on hootoo did help with his decision to leave
I've come across a few things yesterday that made me ask myself the same questions we've talked about before.
Gotcha !
Skankyrich [?] Posted Sep 11, 2006
Matt did say a while ago that it would be his last Entry for a while, so he was planning to tone down his contributions anyway. These things come around once in a while; I've been right at the centre of this one for a change, but it will blow over soon enough. The thing to remember is that everyone ultimately wants to improve the EG, however good or bad they are at expressing it.
Actually my tagline is a response to my day today, but I can see how it could be misinterpreted... it's removed
Gotcha !
aka Bel - A87832164 Posted Sep 11, 2006
I didn't mean you should remove the tagline, after what you told in your journal, I guessed it was for that reason, but it seemed to fit nicely to all the other ongoing things

I keep losing my connection - what a rubbish day!
I'll change it back if the flipping network lets me!

aka Bel - A87832164 Posted Sep 11, 2006
Oh my, and here I am worrying about my own little things There's nothing as frustrating as being without internet without any warning

Skankyrich [?] Posted Sep 13, 2006
Well, not really...
Still no engine for the car.
Still not getting enough sleep.
Still no end in sight for the pond problems.
Still no firm details from the Trust on training.
Still got connection problems, and now the hotel internal network is having a major malfunction too.
Still having problems with one of the groups in the hotel at the moment.
Still no Hobgoblin at the off-license.
Thanks for the thought, anyway love

Oh my, that sounds like something along the lines of: "Somebody told me to relax and keep in mind that things could be worse. So I relaxed and things got worse."
I really hope things will take a turn to better soon.

That's about right, Bel - you won't believe what happened overnight last night. A resident got arrested, a family caught a stomach bug - then tonight me and Jim went out to get a bit for the network; while we were away for all of ten minutes, someone got stuck in the lift, the fire alarms went off and the police came out to warn us of burgulars
We have no reservation system either, as it's crashed til tomorrow. so we have 140 people checking out, no record of any bills, who's leaving, who's staying, or who's arriving. Computers, eh?
Gotcha !
aka Bel - A87832164 Posted Sep 15, 2006
Oh my, what a chaos. We sometimes have a crashed PC at work, which means: back to the old and paper then, to keep track of what we sold. I hope you stocked up on paper and s ?

Skankyrich [?] Posted Sep 15, 2006
It's almost fixed now, thank goodness, and the pressure should be off just a little as we're not having to release staff for training this next week. This week has just taken so long to pass; nice lie-in and day off tomorrow
How's your week been, anyway? Hopefully at least a little better than mine
Gotcha !
aka Bel - A87832164 Posted Sep 15, 2006
Yes, thanks for asking, but I guess compared to your week, mine was like being in paradise
And I'm having a long weekend ahead of me, which is great. I hope you'll manage to relax tomorow. Some umpiring to do ?
