Sadly in my ancient portable set the diameter of the holes now exceeds that of the pegs so if you accidentally catch a piece it pops out.

Problem is that I use a KVM attached to four pcs on a shelving system of my own devising and the smiley - bleep thing has disappeared under the lowest shelf.

Meanwhile have you come across this proposed Bruichladdich?

I didn't see it I'm afraid, I was out. My earlier post was pulled too so if you quoted any of it, that might be a reason. I can only assume mine got zapped because it contained the phrase 'burn him'.

I am not convinced a numerical advantage of one pawn compensates for your positional advantage and my loss of impetus but I will press on.

hi psi
just passing through. Revised off-piste plans (Glasgow/Dublin) mean no access to chess board for a week or more.

Might invest in truly portable set given imminent translation 'furrinwards' but temporarily have found a virtual one on-line.

I'll essay a move once I have it installed and the game entered.

In algebraic notation I assume that when two pieces of the same kind can occupy the same square from different starting squares then one specifies the starting square as well as the target square.

Btw on language games it appears that you were spot on.

Apparently, ‘I believe there is no God’ is not the same thing as ‘I do not believe in God’ because one implies a faith position and the other negates it.smiley - doh

And there was me using 'to believe' in the sense of 'to hold an opinion'

I don't know how frequently I will have access to a wireless link over the next few days so further moves on my part may be delayed.

Yes you can revert to full algebraic for the purposes of disambiguation, or you can just specify the rank or file of the start square.

I agree that this variation in the language game is hilarious. How some atheists keep a straight face whilst solemnly making that distinction puzzles me. I think I understand why they do it, as you say, they know what move is coming-the 'atheism is just another faith' move. But I would have thought they would have found a counter that is not so taxing on the face muscles by now.

Since you might be scarce I think I'll sleep on the chess move.

I see that what was meant to be a minor clarification on 'Psychology of Religion'. I seem to have tapped into deep roots in the psychology of offsome atheists.
