Hi Bx4,
1. e4 Nf6
2. e5 Nd5
3. d4 d6
4. c4 Nb6
5. f4
Ambiguity is usually removed by stating either the rank or the file of the piece to be moved (since they can't both be the same).

Seems ok now.
You still watching jank? Gripping stuff eh?

If like me you are unfamiliar with English algebraic notation:

Hi Bx4,
1. e4 Nf6
2. e5 Nd5
3. d4 d6
4. c4 Nb6
5. f4 dxe5 (PxP)
6. fxe5 Nc6
7. h3
No kind of romantic, me. What's the reference?

Psiomniac Posted Oct 21, 2008
By the way, how about we make this best of 3 or 5 or something? It might reduce the fluke factor.

hi psi
h3 - didn't see that coming.
I'd like to bookmark here. I see two different lines of development and I'd like to to rollback and try the alternative when we finish.
1. e4 Nf6
2. e5 Nd5
3. d4 d6
4. c4 Nb6
5. f4 dxe5 (PxP)
6. fxe5 Nc6
7. h3 Nxd4
Romantic: I thought your 'gripping' might indicate a predilection for the Romantic School
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Romantic_chess
3 out of 5: I think you may be rather more competitive than me.
I'm just beginning to enjoy chess after a 40 year hiatus so I had assumed an indeterminate number of games terminated by the closure of h2g2 or death.

3. d4 d6
4. c4 Nb6
5. f4 dxe5 (PxP)
6. fxe5 Nc6
7. h3 Nxd4
8. Nf3
Ok an indeterminate number of games works for me!
As for my romantic tendencies, I think I can be impetuous as we can see already in this game.
Are you bookmarking at 7. h3 or 7.....Nxd4?

Evening psi
In a bit of a rush. Heavy rain & strong gales forecast so we are battening things down here.
1. e4 Nf6
2. e5 Nd5
3. d4 d6
4. c4 Nb6
5. f4 dxe5 (PxP)
6. fxe5 Nc6
7. h3 Nxd4
8. Nf3 e6
indeterminate: great!
impetuous: Somewhat that way myself but that invariably earns me a drubbing by the minister so I am trying to curb it.
rollback: After h3. Probably goes nowhere but I'd like to see how it plays

Oh no!
I'm happy to rewind again.
Alternatively, we could have another go and I'll attempt English Descriptive notation.

hi psi
Oh no: Oh yes
Algebraic notation: It wasn't the notation really just carelessness on my part. I simply read Nf3 as Nc3 assuming it was part of a 'cunning plan.
I'd rather stick with algebraic rather than go to descriptive. Although I have never used it before it seems more user friendly than descriptive
rewind: If you like though I'm happy to resign since it was an unforced error on my part.
Anyhow AFK for most of today.

Well if you request a takeback, I'll grant it. It was a 'postal' rather than chess error after all. If you don't, then I suppose it is your turn to be white. So I'll await your decision/first move.

hi psi
Sorry about the delay but my steely resolve failed me and I got sucked into winding up anti-theists on 'Daft arguments for theism' thread (mostly a rehash of TGD and so of little intrinsic interest).
Anyhow onwards and upwards/downwards.
