Yes he is rather large. The doctors believe that I may have had undiagnosed Gestational diabetes.

R was 7lb 14 so L is already Much bigger. So big he has had to go straight into 0-3 mo nth clothes as newborn are too small!

minichessemouse - Ahoy there me barnacle!

Thats us home at last. L has let me have a couple of hours sleep, but I've a cracked nipple in exchange. It shall heal in time. Right now I'm mostly happy to be home.

ouch! cracked nipples arn't much fun!; get the decent cream though, they heal useually quite quickly, if they can get 'some rest', for a day or so. I've found smiley - blushsmiley - erm oops. sorry!

You can call me TC

Both my daughters-in-law had problems with the cracked nipples. I don't remember having that problem at all. Perhaps I have just conveniently forgotten, although I do remember it cropping up later, at about 6 weeks, but not as far as to draw blood.

We were told to prepare ourselves in advance, but I don't think I did that either.

One of my daughters in law was recommended a cream which the baby wouldn't be able to taste - well, it turned out she obviously could taste something because she didn't like it at all.

So both of them started with plastic nipple shields (is that what they're called in English?)

No creams or sheilds needed, I honestly didn't notice it until L brought up a little blood
He is still feeding fine from both sides and today we have achieved mustard poo, which is a good sign in a breastfeeding baby.

ITIWBS

Cracked nipples, chapped lips, hang nails, split ends, all signs of B vitamin deficifiency.

A vitamin B complex tablet can help, best taken with a calcium carbonate tablet to potentiate the B vitamins and vitamin D supplement to potentiate the calcium.

I personally use a cacium carbonate/vitamin D3 supplement, both compounded together in the same tablet.

Taking the calcium-D tablet with whole cereal grains also increases absorption of the B vitamins from the cereal grains.

smiley - biggrinCongratulations on the new mouseling.

10 pounds, 7 ounces?!

(Didn't quite know there whether to use a question mark or an exclamation point.)

2legs - Hey, babe, take a walk on the wild side...

as I said earlier with th weight; that's a boxing/ring-ready fighting weight, not a bith weight! smiley - laugh

nipples can be hardened up over time... but, smiley - blush that can also then fade very quickly too smiley - blushsmiley - bruisedsmiley - blush err.... assuming male/female nipples opperate in basically the same way, as regards such anyhow smiley - laughsmiley - snork
