Right, can I just confirm what is required?

The t/g total board will consist purely of a game played over a calendar month.

Each week, each player will be given the opportunity to create two Telegrams, based on the word created by our current Lexicographer, every Thursday.

Each week, each player will vote for their three favourite Telegrams, nominating a First, Second and Third choice.

**MMF will compile a weekly chart, based on all the votes received, for each player, and create a total for each player, based on first = 3 points, second = 2 points and third = 1 point.**

This chart will continue for a full calendar month, giving a Champion of the month, rather than a Telegram winner of the month.

Is that correct so far? Do I compile a list of monthly winners, e.g. Winner for November 2006 is A N Other?

Anything I've missed?

Sounds about right to me!

I'd suggest a lunar rather than a calender month - that way it's based on a four week cycle and no apportionment of scores is necessary for the odd days. I think there will be far less confusion.

My personal preference would be for a score based upon the combined votes for both Telegrams a player enters. That way, if you produce really outstanding Telegrams for both submissions you get the points you deserve.

I'd then like to see the scores transferred to an annual tally, so there is an outright telegram champion at the end of the year. I'd suggest that starts in 2007.

You didn't mention anything about you buying the winner a huge bottle of champagne to spray over the also rans, like they do at the grand prix.

Maybe we could run to a virtual bottle. will do I guess.

Are we voting on the best player of the month or the best telegram of the month?

BDF sounds the most easiest for MMF, he'll know wghen it starts and ends without having to go back and calculate then.

Been rather remiss in my duties! BDF for me also, seems the best way and MMF will have less work! (far too many initials )

Eep! I said B and I meant A Lunar monthly does seem better as we work from week to week IMHO!

My suggestion would be that if we went by lunar month we would just have a 4 week cycle which would be easy to follow. Bel could maybe put a fraction before the word to indicate where we are in the cycle.
Week 1: (1/4) PRECONCEPTOIN
Week 2: (2/4) ANTENATAL
Week 3: (3/4) BIRTH
Week 4: (4/4) POSTNATAL
Then after week 4 we would always go back to week 1.
When I'm on hootoo I rarely know what the date is!

Thinking more about it, I think I'll shift my affiliation from the calendar month supporters ('callies') to the lunar month supporters ('loonies').

Sometimes we have to skip a week during quiet periods, and I think it works out easier if we just count games on the 1/2/3/4 basis as Vestboy said. So it's not really a calendar as such, it's a 4-game cycle.

The amended votes are:

So looks like your preferences are:

A) Lunar Calendar, i.e. every four weeks.
D) Dual totallising for each game.
F) Four-weekly total, leading to a rolling leader board, with an annual winner.
