>>>with a pair of shears..... my arms are now like quivering jelly and i can barely hold anything!!

I know the feeling. Remember I did the entire bottom lawn with shears then had to mow it straightaway? It's your back you have to watch when shearing. I was careless and couldn't straighten up at one point. I was quite worried at the pain. Fortunately I recovered quickly. Fetched the kneeling pad to do the rest. A very simple but effective thing. Ditto the Big Hands. Very useful. Even better of course would be more willing helpers more often...

Arghhhh Mr Tickle's in this message too!

Well, if you weren't cooking with it surely you weren't using it for this:

How did Snap go? Hope the brain was in gear this time. Have you played bridge since you were young or did you learn more recently? OK I'll try posting again...

Don't know about maggots but it would certainly keep me away!!

Very strong smell, not really really unpleasant but can't imagine using it for cooking - I've heard of Tansy pudding before but think I'll pass on that one. Tansy balti dal?

It's also very invasive, I've got a large area of it in the front of the house which comes up every year and which I had to chop back for mr windows.

Snap went OK today, brain at least partially working. Playing with the woman who I occasionally play with on Mondays and I think we did better than we did 2 weeks ago. Still waiting for results on web site.

Is it too late to laugh now? Tee hee smiley - laugh. I for one often have a quiet chuckle but don't always type a LOL reply. Assume that other people have chuckled even if they don't respond.

>>Have you played bridge since you were young or did you learn more recently?<<

I learnt when in the 6th form so that's... ahem ahem... quite a few years ago. We used to play in the school darkroom at breaktime, lunchtime, whenever we could. We were all members of the school photographic society but I didn't even have a camera!! It was just an excuse to use the darkroom for bridge - it was also used for photography but I just watched those who knew what they were doing. Then I played off and on over the years but only started playing fairly regularly in 1993 when I joined the club where I now play on Thursdays. When I worked for the Civil Service, one of the bosses was an enthusiast so it was great if you got in a lunchtime game with him involved, since you usually ended up playing for about 2 hours!! I must tell you more about life in the Civil Service some time.

I do. There's nothing like saying: "I didn't hear you laugh at the time please laugh now" is there?

Same applies the other way too, I often do LOL at some of yr merry quips but very rarely post a LOL - you're much more likely to get a smiley - snork from me.

Don't forget ISIHAC is @ 6-30. Have you LA'd last week's? (how are those " ' "s Little Miss P?)

Thanks for reminding me and yes I have.

Those smiley - snorks do mess up the screen though.

By the way, I boringly only peered at film in our darkroom - and actually it was at middle school. Didn't so any photography in 6th form - no point, it was a girls only school! I'm still chuckling at the idea of you joining the Photography club but not having a camera as you just wanted an excuse to play in the darkroom!!! How could you see the cards? Must have been difficult! No wonder you're brilliant now if you could play it in the dark.

Right, time to boil some Charlottes. I'll check for stray nieces before I tip them in.

snap:- 3rd out of 8 with 55.65% - not good enough, my partner did make one or two mistakes though, as did I smiley - sadface

one old girl had a go at me for playing one hand too slowly - which I did but it was a very tricky hand - so the next one I played against them I raced through as quickly as I could. some hands demand more thought than others, it's the players who play at the same slow speed whatever the hand that I find annoying

I've long made jokes about my "Charlottes" - I'm growing them again this year

Had a brainwave for my number! But is this correct? Please tweak my brackets for me - they're bound to be a bit squiffy.

2 * (- 1 + (2 * 51) + 4 / 5 = 42

MJ smiley - wow

That's brilliant!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'll just correct your typo (sorry) and put the missing brackets in:

((2 * (1 + (2 * 51))) + 4) / 5 = 42

I've been struggling with those brackets but I think they're right now.

Andy smiley - applause
