Fathers' Day
Posted Jun 20, 2004
Got myself a spot on Radio Cornwall this morning talking about roses which was good fun. when I went up the road for the papers I had the rise taken out of me a bit by some of the lads who heard it.But no one asked me for my autograph!!
The Son and family turned up to take us out for lunch and had a coffee before we left, and they told us they had been asked to be best man and matron of honour at a wedding and would we look after the four children while they did it. Of course we said yes, and then they told us the wedding is in Scotland and they will be away for five days and would I drive them to Exeter airport and pick them up on their return and drive them back down..
As we had already said yes we knew we would do it but how we will cope with them all at once we are not sure. I expect it will be fun.
We had a good lunch and had a lot of laughs, the children were well behaved and when we took turns to tell stories I told them the three legged chicken joke which they thought hilarious
We came back here after and the children checked the sunflowers.
They went off and The Boss and I settled down to watch a Miss Marple thriller, for a couple of hours.
I had a huge e mail from The Australian who has severe problems with his son's wife and wanted some sympathy, duly sent back.

I went into the garden this morning and picked a bowl full of roses for the house. This is the best they have been for years. they are huge and masses of them. All except the Kifsgate are in full bloom.
The phone went this morning and it was The Son asking us out for lunch tomorrow as it is Fathers day. I had no idea that it was a special day and we are pleased to go out, a free meal is always welcome!!
We had thought we would stay around the house today but the weather was so good we decided to go for a drive and yet again we ended up in a garden centre. came out with a honeysuckle, a passion flower and two huge double busy lizzies. Another thirty quid on the garden. We just seem to be unable to go into a garden centre without spending money.
had to water the garden again this evening, and planted the lizzies and the passiflora, can't find space for the honeysuckle!!

We went to Prestingol Barns in the afternoon and then down into St Agnes for tea. We found a funny little cafe which had hundreds of cups and mugs hanging from the ceiling. Good tea and coffeee crap cakes though!
we are all a upset around here because there has been a dreadful murder in Pz and we are just not use to that sort of thing. An 83 year old man was battered to death and his house set on fire. two local men are have been arrested. but have not yet been charged with murder but have been charged with burglaty at the house.
When we got home I made bread which turned out pretty good.
The boss has had a pain free day which is also a bonus for us. We had some rain but not enough to do much good and the evening sunshine crowned the day.

Usual Thursday stuff until 7oo P.M. Dustbin day. Local paper day, and a trip to Tescos'.
However at 7 we went to see the Y.G.D. in The Wizard of Oz at her school. She only had a small part but the show was a riot of colour. The hall was like an oven and the chair I was on seem to be made of iron and gave my back gyp, but I manfully sat through it all and I am glad I did.
The weather has changed. It is still hot and muggy but very cloudy. before we left we watched the first part of the match and recorded the rest to watch when we came home. I kept switching over to see bits of the France v Croatia match which aggravated The Boss no end
All in all another good day.
