Thanks, Ottox. I talked them into using the LA one instead of mmaking me creat a new one. The LA Times is one of our papers, so they're doing that. Now I'm just going to add to photo galleries. woohoo.

What a joke, the USA has one of the worse power grid systems in the world, and have known about the cascading effects for a long time.
sort yourselves out, get some pilons put it.

My part of Boston is not having power problems.
Why does the first link have Central Massachusetts
in the blackout zone, while the LA Times link
only shows three states (New York, Ohiio, and
Michigan) affected?

I'm sure the comment about us having a "Third World" power grid was someone's idea of another anti-American disparagement.
The truth is, and I assure you that I am in a position to know ... we have one of the finest power systems in the world here in the Northeastern US. Don't believe every slur and inflamitory statement you hear, Doc.
The power outage was caused by a lightning strike near Niagara, New York. It was simply an act of nature that hit a vulnerable spot on a very hot and steamy afternoon.
