Alonso's behaviour is symptomatic of all that is wrong in sport. As with our team, overpaid, over-hyped, spoilt brats both on and off the field of play. No time for any of them, they should go get real jobs in the real world.

I usually only watch the first lap. After that the race is decided by pit-stops.
I did, however, channel hop last weekend, and tuned in 5 seconds before the crash! I watched more grand prix then than I have in the last few years!

I have a feeling Alonso is going to attempt to spoil Hamilton's home Grand Prix by fair means, or foul

I must admit, it could be interesting...
Or it could be a bunch of cars going round, and round, and round, putting on new tyres, and going round, and round, and....
Introduce a new rule. Currently they *have* to use both types of tyre in a race.
New rule: They *must* attempt to run at least one othe car off the track in a race. Points will be awarded for each car put off the track. Extra points will be added for style (Webber's (?) spectacular flight last week scores well, the on-board shot of car-wall-sky was incredible!

Aah, Webber... I watched the re-run of the crash and saw his little paddy, throwing his steering wheel out of his pram. Now thats entertainment.
OMG is he dead? Nope, theres his dummy.
I do like the Death Race 2000 idea tho, run them off the track!!!

Hi dear Lil - my one and only ACE!!
So you like racing cars... Great.
So thanks so much for including me in your contribution on sport. i thought that I had lost you. !!
I certainly enjoy it but do get tired of the intensely political aspect of motor car racing. Very boring. !
My interest in goals which are, or are not, scored in soccer and which I generally cannot, like the ref, see(!) is also limitedl
Alas!
I only just understand a little bit of Rugby. My son Keith was a wonderful full back, and absolutely years ago a very special boyfriend was the "hooker" (sounds ominous that!!) in our provincial Rugby team in South Africa!!
Anyway, you certainly managed to internationalise the game of soccer. Well done.
With affection and regards to your spouse.
Christiane

My favorite computer driving game ever (from oh, so long ago with big huge... pixels) was a bit of brilliance called Carmageddon. Definitely inspired by Death Race 2000 (the only Death Race), you had two ways to win the race, be first across the line or eliminate all your opponents. But my favorite way to play was for points and extra time (to explore off the beaten path). You got both for running over pedestrians and also for style (I particularly liked the 'Cunning Stunt' bonus). Ah, blood, gore and gratuitous cursing. Great game. I would be oh, so happy if they'd redo it for the Wii.

Geggs Posted Jul 1, 2010
There was actually three ways to win in Carmageddon. Though, mowing down every single pedestrian on the map would have taken absolutely ages....
Far easier to destory all your opponents instead.

That's what that "lightening bolt" car was for. It zapped every pedestrian within about 30 meters of you. I'd rack up 20 bonus minutes for every one minute of drive time.

OMG Count Zero,
What an entirely different picture I had of you.
Freshfaced, young, entusiastic, new to the game of life. And a space scientist.
And you enjoyed horrid games when you were a little boy
I till my sides ached.
Thank you for giving me the first really aching I have had for ages.
Well now - what d I think you look like now.
Just a super guy who has his values absolutely right, !

Pierre de la Mer ~ sometimes slightly worried but never panicking ~ Posted Jul 1, 2010
While I favour sports that do not involve burning of fuel (my favourite is le Tour de France) I am a great fan of Formula One, which is an extremely demanding sport. Yes, you have to change tyres - but when?
I understand Alonso's rage - in particular because Lewis hesitated - but since the safety car was not on the pit they should never have given Lewis the drive through penalty!
In the end it didn't matter - and I am relieved that Webber was not injured by that hideous crash!
