It usually coincides with something else we watch... I'm not that bothered about watching, I've been lucky to catch most of the goals just by flicking across to check the scores

Hi,
England was really unlucky ...... if the goal was given, your boys would have lifted their game several notches. Germany wouldn't have had it so easy.
Anyway your cricketers did amazingly well.
Lewis is also great.

SF, I imagine all the talk about footie with involvement of your politicians isn't about having lost the games, but about the extremely bad behaviour of the team. They haven't done anybody a favour by behaving like they did.

I know, but still... If they hadn't lost, would the politicians tell them off all the same? Judging by the comments when the team qualified with a hand (most were along the lines "well, we won, though, didn't we?" or "I didn't even know hands weren't allowed *flutter eyelashes*"), I seriously doubt it...

Politicians like being on TV and quoted in the newspapers. Sport gives then an automatic audience.

I don't believe it... Politicians getting involved in sport
They will be discussing television soap plots in Parliament, next

Geggs Posted Jun 28, 2010
I recall that when Mrs Thather was having something of a falling out with her Chancellor at the time, that John Smith (then leader of the Labour Party, now sadly deceased), recited the lyrics of the Neighbours theme tune in the House.
"Neighbours", he said, "Everybody needs good beighbours. Be good friends with one another" and so on.
So, soapy matters have been raised, or at least referred to, in Parliament.
