h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

To be honest, it was very much touch and go whether Hubby would be fit enough to travel, so much so that I didn't actually pack the case until Saturday morning. I was worried that I might need to set it up for him going into hospital

You see, Hubby had been ill with Campylobactor - dirty fingernails from gardening is being blamed

Anyway, he was getting over that with antibiotics, when on Friday night he began to pass blood in his urine . To cut a long story short, he had to see the emergency doctor on Saturday and take a sample, which showed blood and protein were present. So a change of antibiotics were given.... Yay! ... We could now go to Hull!!

At 11.30am we collected daughter, Virtuouschuffed and her Hubby Vince and 'Orft we jolly well went'

We booked into the hotel at about 2.30pm and gave the reception staff some badges and bookmarks, which amused them very much ... Hurried up to our room and unpacked, then came back down to meet up with the others in the bar, they were:

Moonhogg and The Missus
Kitty and Cheeky Monkey (their daughters)
BMT aka ST and The Prof
and.... TRiG

Galaxy Babe was ing a little late, and joined us about an hour later - The car would have been much quicker

Little were exchanged, thanks again, everyone

In all, 12 attended the afternoon chat... Sadly, Scorp couldn't attend as her car broke down on the way to Hull, and she ended up being towed back home. She was very upset about it

Ivan the Kangaroo had absconded from the front bedroom at some point during the week No doubt he well show his face again within the next couple of days

Pailaway sat on the table in paper form

At about 5pm I went to our room and rested, while those more energetic bods went nosing about the marina. We all arranged to meet again at 7pm and at 7.45pm we were being shown to our table for dinner and our waiter was Lucas - lovely boy

While we were deciding what to eat, ST was trying to set up the laptop dongle so we might chat with our friends at the London Meet - Unfortunately, this was not going happen - Guess who supplied the dongle? . Try as he might, there was nothing ST could do to get the blasted thing to register

We toasted to 'Absent Friends' at about 8pm

Back to the meal! After long deliberation we all finally made our choices - and what delicious food it was too! . Lucas was very attentive, without actually hovering, which was nice.

When it came to paying the bill, I put some badges and bookmarks with the money, Lucas was SOOoooo pleased as the ones in reception had everyone chatting and curious about the Hootoo, so they logged in to have a look and they all thought the site was 'interesting' - we might have a few more viiccc.. ... Researchers soon

Lucas then checked that there was enough seats in the room just off the bar, so we could remain together (otherwise he was quite happy for us to remain at the dining table).

The conversation flowed smoothly, with everyone mingling nicely. TRiG and VC had lots to chat about.. Vince, Prof and ST talked about bikes and other motorised vehicles ... GB, Hoggy and The Missus chatted with each other, and Hubby.... Me? Oh, I was my usually quiet self *hic*

We also decided to take our Hull Meet back to the July date, so it won't clash with London, then some could possibly attend both meets then. So next year the Hull Meet will be either the first or second weekend in July

The evening broke up when it was realised that Hoggy and The Missus were having to leave to catch the midnight bus home... we hadn't noticed how fast the time was flying

Sunday, we all met in reception at midday after booking out and made our way to The Deep. Well!! VC and her Hubby love their fishtanks.. and for them to be inside a giant one made their eyes pop out . TRiG was really animated. He and Hoggy were engrossed in conversation all the way round!

Even though the rest of us had been there before, there was still so much to see - things that seemed to have been missed on previous visits

At this point, we really must thank Galaxy Babe for providing us with tickets from her T**co points card. It was most generous and gave us all free entry

At about 3.30pm we began to make our way back to the carpark - with hugs and kisses all round, we said our goodbyes and promised to keep cheerful until we meet again...

I meant to write up a report tonight and then ... didn't. Sorry.

It was wonderful seeing some of ye again and meeting some new faces. There were some people there I don't talk to much here on hootoo either, but we still fitted together perfectly. (That's because we're all mad, or at least have an off-the-wall sense of humour.)

And the Deep was wonderful! I'll join you in thanking Galaxy Babe for the free entry. In fact, the vouchers were worth slightly more than the price of entry, and they can't give change on vouchers, so we got a free guidebook in lieu of change and I ended up with that too, so that's a double thanks to GB from me.
