In case I'm offline for a while...
azahar Posted Nov 30, 2004
Well, as Ivan already knows, I rather spectacularly fell of the non-smoking wagon on Sunday (don't ask). Then yesterday, no cigs and no wanting cigs at all. (I think I have previously posted that I never go through any sort of 'withdrawal' symptoms when I stop smoking).
But TODAY Noggin and I were in the throws of installing a router so he could be online (wirelessly-like) with his laptop at the same time I'm online with my normal computer and this seemed to take more than a few cigs and glasses of wine to get through the very stressful 'connection' thingy. (yeah, yeah . . . excuses).
I actually feel more sorry for Noggin, having *dragged him down* again (though not really - his choice after all, I didn't *make* him smoke, but once he saw me smoking . . .) to smoking after a whole week of not smoking.
Well, tomorrow is another day!

If Noggin has managed a week without smoking, that's still an achievement - even if he's lapsed.
This is Day 26 for me, about which I am unbearably smug.
It's 6:20am and 24C; it didn't get any cooler overnight. Apparently it'll only reach 28C today, so maybe I'll get some sleep tonight. (Pity the poor people in Sydney - it only got down to 32C there overnight, and Sydey's a humid armpit of a place at the best of times.)
I'm looking forward to the arrival of the bottle of cold wind...

that's hot!, it's up around 33 here, but down to about 23 at night, actually it is quite pleasant, even the humidity is low at the moment, about 60%, looks like it is going to be a long hot summer..........as usual
go Ivan well done

Ooooooooh, Mr Smug!
Glad to hear it and feel free to be as smug as you like - you deserve it.
28º eh? It's actually still getting up to about 22º here in the afternoons, which isn't bad for almost December.

OK folks, here be s from South West France:
1) nice bottle of Nouveau Beaujolais, which has just come out (?!) & is rendering the local population speechless, legless & everything else less
2) Even nicer bottle of Chateauneuf du Pape, which me, Rk & Cat glugged shamelessly for free at the Gastronomades Food Fest the other night
3) even nicer vintage we did likewise, see above
4) Plus nibbles of & cheese & meaty bits (for those who do)
So, all in all, i reckon the Hootooversaries should be hosted at my place ok?
on keeping off the dreaded weed Ivan, ALSO to Az for trying, it ain't easy mate & most addicts need lots of tries.
Az, can you get back to me about the router thing, RK is here now with his laptop, at the moment he uses it to do sophisticated stuff which my Beast can't, we use mine for internet access, but obviously we need to link up the two & use my wanadoo ISP access; any advice welcome; we can't carry on like this with RK physically carrying his beast round to Ollie, storing stuff on his Beast, which he then emails to mine, very long winded!
to all!

Ooh Terri! Chateauneuf du Pape! Fabulous stuff!
There's a small winery in the Barossa that makes a wine in a very similar style; it's a dreadful pun, but they call it Nine Popes. It's quite good.
*falls upon the cheese with glee*
(Helly [2], I did indeed drift through the day. Things might have happened, but I didn't notice...)

az,
Well done for admitting that you fell off the non smoking wagon. You could have kidded us. Glad you got on again, lapses are permitted - it is the long term result that matters.
Ivan,
You are close to five stars methinks. My other half thinks you might have beaten it. Do hope so. Take care,

Oh, I am looking forward to five stars...
In the meantime, Day 27 has almost ended, with no dramas at all. Good.
Az, have another from me.

Day 28!!! Two more days, and I'll stop counting days and start counting months!
There's a w*rk party today - it starts in a couple of hours, a decent walking distance from here. Maybe I should just saddle up a instead - there's enough of 'em around here...

Well, I walked there, and I walked back, and I am now bright red with sunburn. (Yes, I was wearing sunblock.) I expect I'll look like a freak for a couple of days. But that doesn't matter - the thing that matters is that I am still smoke-free, even after a rather dreadful day with my colleagues.

It's wonderful you are doing so well. When I quite smoking I had to physically isolate myself from smokers as much as possible. Although now I guess there are people smoking in less places so maybe it's easier to avoid?
Bummer about the sunburn. We've had gale force winds here today

Day 29 is here! *does impromptu jig; falls over*
I shall now take my sunburnt self off to the shops, for newspapers and other essentials. This is the only excursion I'm planning this weekend, so I might as well make the most of it...
Websailor, I do have a small garden, so the by-products will be useful. However, there will be a considerable surplus...
