Hiya, what exactly are you trying to do?
I can guess that when the mouse goes over the picture of the exploding star type thingy you want a piece of tunes to play?
Try putting the onmouseover and onmouseout commands actually in with the image tags rather than as a seperate link around the outside of them. Also, where's the tune?
You've got some nice numbers in the variable brackets of the mouse commands but what do they mean? I'm afraid that's all giberish to me. If you're linking to an external music or sound file then you'll need to let your functions know where they are, I'm afraid I couldn't find them. If you are linking to a sound file then if you let me know where it is I'll have a play with it for you. The easiest way then is to use the mouseover command and the document.open (?) or is it file.open? I can never remember, command to then link straight to the wav or whatever file. Most browsers handle them automaticaly nowadays.
If you need any more help then just ask.smiley - fish

Well, pastey, basically, i'ts mostly gibberish to me to, although there are references to what the sounds mean, and it all works fine on shazze's non-h2g2 page, I'm just trying to bring it over here.
I'm making a pig's ear of it.
I'm trying to look for bugs, but, can't really find them.
The only thing i can see wrong is that it can't find the referenced 'applet'.
Anyway. smiley - bigeyes Maybe you can help with something.... As i'm not really all that good with java(script).

Had a look at both your sites and here's what I can come up with.
You are using a webpage generator that seems to give everything like paragraphs and image files and sound files a code that it can refer to rather than using it's name. It makes it a lot harder for people to rip of your source files, but bloody difficult to debug. This generator has coded the location of the sound file and without the decoder on the h2g2 site it isn't likely to work. The easiest way around this is to find out where this sound file has gone. Either that or load it onto the internet yourself, and then refer to it seperately. That silly string of numbers and letters in the brackets after the javascript call is the variable that the javascript works with for that function, that is what it is trying to load, and there is no definition for it anywhere. Rather than spending hours trying to debug what is a reasonably complex script (clearly written though it may be) I would strongly suggest finding the url for the sound file. Believe me, it will be easier. If you do find it then let me know, if not let me know anyway and I try and find something similar for you, perchance do you know where you got the sound from originally?smiley - fish

Right, so if i load the sound file onto my webspace, i can put the URL into the brackets, and that should work? right? okay, i'll try that, Shazz, send over the file's next time you see me.
Thanx Pastey, we owe you one.

Sorry I was so long in replying but I actually had some work to do, can you believe it? I've tried putting the direct link for the sound file in and strangly enough it didn't work.
Now I've got a day or two spare I'll have another look at it and see if I can come up with a bit more simple a script.smiley - fish
