Makes absolute sense. Sure, I eat fast-food--but I would *never* judge American hamburgers by McDonalds or Burger King or anything like that. Mom and Pop places are absolutely the best.
As for traditions--I'd say coffee is one, though hardly one we alone have. Um...corndogs? Not really a great tradition, but you can find them at most any fair/ballpark. Funnel cakes? (Most of these things are edible, though.)

A nice rich-people residential area north of San Diego.
hmmm... I don't think coffee would count, anyway, as the beans come from Columbia and other type countries...How about fruitcake?

Tang? As in the powdered orange flavoured drink? If so we have it over here, but it is not as huge as it was in the 80's here.
Before I go on with what I want to say, is Peanut Butter and Jelly (over here it's called Jam), and American tradition, or did you scab it from some poor unsuspecting country? Maybe that is what you can claim as your weird and wacky food group.

Jelly and Jam are two different things - "This must be jelly, 'cause jam don't jiggle like that!". Jam's just the mashed up fruit, and Jelly's more like jello with more umph
I think you may have a winner, though, with the PB&J thing... I'm not aware any other country that'd come up with something like that existed .

Yeah PB&J was marketed over here as 'Gobbergrape Jelly'. Was nice, but I prefer Peanut Butter and Honey.
So maybe we should get a entry going on about the weird and wacky, and not so ediable food from around the world.

WOHOO!!! You can get off this island if you send all your life fortunes, and willing to sign the rest of your life income over to Garibaldi's Cattle Craft Airlines. See http://www.h2g2.com/forumframe.cgi?forum=9231&thread=14692
Since the airline is just starting, you may have to be patient with the staff.

I say chaps, as much as I love all of island stuff, I think I'll jump on Garibaldi's airline, because this discussion took 5 minutes to download. It's definitely starting to get as long as the original Abduction discussion. Cheerio!
Takes mutated vegeimite and jumps on board.

Garibaldi, odd fellow. See repeated a message I wrote a day ago on this very location: "Another forum gets too heavy. Please continue this debate at Abduction Island II, The Sequel, located at http://www.h2g2.com/forumframe.cgi?forum=15756&thread=14593"

Can think of two unique yankee foods. Coca/Pepsi Cola and fat humans. Cannibals world wide love fat.
