Hi Vestie, I do hope you're well.
We're sorely missing your input in the telegram game, (not to mention the various journals lil and I published meanwhile ) anything wrong with the game, or just RL being too busy?
Would be great to have you back.
Bel

Hi Bel
real life is busy at the moment, but I also had an accident at work. I fell off a loading platform while I was looking at some boxes that had been delivered - so I am now typing with a bit of a limp as my left thumb is broken.
Thanks for the kind words - please say hi to everyone. I'm not doing too much typing just now as it makes my thumb ache - but I'll see what I can do.

Oh my, I'm sorry to hear that.
Still, it could have been worse, I guess, you have to be grateful for small things, haven't you?
Hope you'll feel better soon.

Oh, I don't feel too bad. I have to say that I was walking around with it for a week and a half before I had it diagnosed!

Funny coincidence, my colleague told us today that a friend of hers broke her small finger at a skiing accident, and only had it diagnosed when she was back at work more than a week later.
Are you at home, or at work then?

I'm at work. I had a doy off after the accident but only got a doctor's appointment this week as I didn't think it was urgent.

Come on, confess - you're only scared of s, like all men.
I'll be off for a nap now, have a good weekend - and good to see you back, not only in the telegram game.

I didn't see it . What did I say?
The splint thingy on my arm is reacting badly with my skin so I'm having to wear some cloth around my hand to stop the itching. I'm supposed to be having physiotherapy on my shoulder but nobody has contacted me yet.

It said:
>>I used to think it was, "to all intensant purposes" - whatever "intensant" should be I have no idea.<<
taken from the 'British English - the sequel thread'.
I once was subscribed to that thread, when I was still fairly new to hootoo, and it was intimidating.
I'm sorry you're having such problems.
Did you damage your shoulder aswell?

Ooh, that hurt! Yes thanks. I landed on one side but broke the opposing thumb. So when I'm in bed I'm in a no win situation. If I lie on my back Mrs Vesty wakes me to remind me I'm snoring, if I lie on my left side I'm very aware of my left thumb/arm being in a splint and if I lie on my right side I wake up with the pain of my shoulder. I did try lying face down but nearly suffocated in the pillow.

OMG, catch 22 then, eh? Can't Mrs Vesty massage your shoulder, or won't that help?
I'll keep my fingers crossed that you can start the physio soon.

At the moment I jump when someone touches it. Physio will now start next week. I'm not looking forward to having someone really work it, but I must be brave. Doctor said the splint on my thumb can come off in two weeks time, which is great news.
Thanks for the concern.

I imagine it to be very painful. Nearöly as bad as losing the internet connection
Thanks for my youngest son who not only managed to get me back online, but to upload the photos, too. When trying to upload the photros from the camera, I had changed the places for the USB sticks of camera and WLAN, not knowing that one USB slot is configured for the WLAN, and one isn't. I changed it back when I got the suspicion, but the settings were lost.
And I volunteered for the h2g2 AVIATORS group

Sons can be useful can't they. I tend to assume that I'm more adept than I really am at these things.

To be honest, I thought that one USB slot was as good as the other - you're never too old to learn, are you? That'll teach me to just assume techie things.
The only comfort was, that the camera is a pain in the a$$ (and not I), my son told me that he's having the same problems I had when trying to upload pics.

I've had some problems with a camera recently. The program downloaded 3 photographs and then stopped. There were another 165 to go!
I knkow why computers don't have ears. It's so they can't hear people shouting at them.

Oh, I know that problem. Apparently the trick is, to just leave the program open and do it directly from the PC.
And I never shout at the computer.
