Now That's What I Call Nowhere
Bluebottle Posted Jun 11, 2019
It took a while to get through those 'Now's – they're triple albums, you know…
Icy's Suggestions
Ogden's Nut Gone Flake - Small Faces
On Every Street - Dire Straits
One - Beatles
Original Masters - Jethro Tull
Out of the Blue - ELO
Good suggestions there – I'll have to keep my eye out. Oh, and I have '1' and listed it right at the start under '1', so no points for 'One' I'm afraid.
Today I am mostly hearing:
'Ocean Drive' – Lighthouse Family
'Off The Ground' – Paul McCartney
'Official BBC Children in Need Medley' [Various*]
'OK Computer' - Radiohead
'On Air' – The Rolling Stones
'On Air: Live at the BBC Volume 2' – The Beatles

"It covers 1983-2013, commemorating the first 30 years that the 'Now That's What I Call Music' ran for."
Ah!
"I've got Queen's Greatest Hits I, II & III if that's any consolation?"
It is a small consolation, but you're missing out on some highlights from the early period with those... Art appreciation with 'The Fairy-Feller's Masterstroke' for one Not to everyone's taste, though, I can imagine, so I'm not really surprised they are not first choice for 'Best Of' compilations...
More Os
One for the Road - The Kinks
One Size Fits All
Ooh La La - Faces
Original Soundtrack - 10cc
Out of Time - REM

I can think of some obvious later Ps, but I’ll start with some PAs:
Parachutes - Coldplay
Parallel Lines - Blondie
Parklife - Blur
Past Masters - Beatles
Paul is Live - Paul McCartney

Just when I thought Sasha was catching up, Icy pulls ahead once more…
Parachutes - Coldplay
Parallel Lines – Blondie <- Really should get it, though.
Parklife - Blur
Past Masters - Beatles
Paul is Live - Paul McCartney
'Past Masters' was released as two separate albums from 1988-2009 and since 2009 has been released as a single 2-disc volume comprising both. So Icy can legitimately guess 'Past Masters' as for ten years that has been the album's title. But as I have the older, two separate albums editions it means Icy is entitled to double points on a 5 point guess, so he scores 13 points this round.
Today I am mostly hearing:
'Past Masters: Volume 1' – The Beatles
'Past Masters: Volume 2' – The Beatles
'Paul is Live' – Paul McCartney
'Paul McCartney's Ocean Kingdom'
'Performance and Cocktails' – Stereophonics

So I guess three critically acclaimed and bestselling indie rock classics, scoring zero, then the obscure live album and back-catalogue rehash scores 13.
Be warned, Sasha Q

I don’t correlate good taste with critical opinion or sales.
Having said that, few can top the Beatles in those departments.

A shocking round in that you both get a double 5 points one after the other – I have 'Pet Sounds' twice, my original basic copy and one presented in glorious, lovingly restored, original mono. My ears aren't sensitive to notice any difference on my stereo. (Is it still a stereo if you are playing mono?)
Peter Gabriel may well be very sneaky with a choice of four, but I ain't got any of 'em.

'Pictures: 40 Years of Hits' – Status Quo

Pipes of Peace - Paul McCartney
Play - Moby
Please Please Me - Beatles
Press to Play - Paul McCartney
Pure McCartney [Deluxe] - Paul McCartney
You can start thinking of your arse over the weekend - sorry, I mean your Rs.

I *knew* I shouldn’t have chosen that critically acclaimed multi-million selling worldwide hit album by Moby. It was a moment of weakness

Pipes Please Platinum Pirates
Icy North Posted Jun 18, 2019
I remember visiting a second hand record shop where the large Beatles section had subdividers for each album. One of them was intriguingly marked “R Soul”.
