Hi both,i have had an horrendous last few days I did not go to Brighton,i could not face another set to with the ancient. Firstly one of my friends died unexpectedly,as he is a lot younger than me it came as a shock. Then all hell broke loose where i work. One of the residents had a massive stroke right in front of me when we were laughing our heads off about the quantity of sherry i had put in the trifle,at least she died laughing, the shock of this gave her friend a heart attack and she was carted off to Poole hospital where she is recovering. Another resident was stupidly given a box of chocolates and ate most of them in one hit,she is a type one diabetic,of course she was also carted off to Poole, finally,a male resident had to be moved to another home because he kept groping the female residents,i suppose they have put him somewhere where groping is allowed All in all a nightmare!
Scorp,i look forward to the pictures,i could do with cheering up.
I always do a calender for my mother,Octavia, work and Sarah. i usually do a pictorial of the best shots for each month. You should do one for Harry, it would be dead simple, just put a picture of a prawn on every page

Hi both, Scorp, the calendar is a lovely idea. I get one like that every year from a friend in Australia.
Sue, that was some week! Funny in parts if it wasn't so sad. As for the Groper, well, where would be safe? The one who died laughing about the sherry would have thanked you I think - what a way to go!
So sorry about your friend in particular, that must have been a real shock. Just shows we should treat every day as if it is our last and make the best of it.
or two for you I think.

WS. yesterday evening i thought WAS my last. The storm we had here was awful! Trees have come down and my greenhouse took off and is now somewhere in outer space. The bridge i have to cross to go to work was unusable and although the river has subsided a bit, there is more storms forecast for tonight.I am a bit concerned as to how i will get to work in the morning. The other bridge further along is also useless,a car was washed away seconds after the driver was pulled free The river Stour has a strong tidal current,so all i want tomorrow is a high tide and a storm. Perhaps i should borrow Jacobs kayak
The resident with the heart attack is coming home today along with the diabetic chocolate scoffer whose family have been warned, any gifts or goodies must be shown to the duty manager to check if it is permissible.
I hope you two have had better luck with the weather, thanks for the i expect i will be needing it

Wow, you have certainly had it bad there! A neighbours very large gazebo took off and nearly landed in my garden. I thought it was going to end up on the railway line but thankfully it landed belly up with its legs in the air, still in their garden!
There was flooding in a lot of places locally, but mostly the usual so we were lucky. We usually lose fencing but escaped this time. Yesterday on the way to have my hair done I was bombarded with bins, paper, plastic containers, cardboard boxes as the wind played havoc with recycling waste, very dangerous, and now they want us to have wheelie bins - more even larger missiles
tomorrow, I will be thinking of you, it sounds dreadful and if your job was not so essential I would say batten down the hatches and stay at home!
Take care, another to keep you going

Made it to work safely although it was a bit tricky in places. If it stops raining for five minutes i might go out tomorrow with the camera and get some flood shots. The most annoying thing is the car park at home has been flooded for days now. I have to put on my wellies to get to the car, take them off to drive, then do it all over again when i get home
I have a few days off,so i can relax for a while.I am not going to Brighton either,i don't see the point of driving 96 miles just to be told to off,my mother can do that perfectly well on the phone
I am now going to have that you gave me,no,i am going to have a couple of them
Now 67 and feeling it!
Websailor Posted Nov 25, 2012
Good, you deserve them. Hope the weather doesn't get any worse, though the forecast doesn't look great. Lots of flooding here but not near enough to worry about at the moment.
Enjoy your few days, and I don't blame you for not going to Brighton. Quite apart from anything else they are asking people not to travel unless they have to and not to try and drive through standing water! So, if there is any chance you are feeling a bit guilty there is no need.
Just in the process of booking my holiday. Will let you know when, once it is confirmed.
Take care, unless three is is too many .....

There can never be too many
I did not get out as planned,it was just too grey and boring, pictures always look so bland when there is no contrast in the sky. I did go shopping to purchase a pair of wellies,a well known outdoor clothing shop has got a sale on,so i got a very smart pair of what would have been very expensive boots at half price and they are fur lined,my other wellies sprung a leak.
There are still floods here but nothing as bad as in other parts of the country,i am definitely going out tomorrow,if just to try my flash new wellies
Good news about the holiday,i look forward to seeing you and your son soon which reminds me,i am supposed to be meeting up with Scorp and SS in early March,i must get that sorted somehow
If you can smell chutney,it is only me i have been using up all the peppers and green tomatoes, that were left without a roof over their heads when the greenhouse blew away.

'These boots were made for walking' so that's what you better do. Glad you had a bargain, that is always a nice feeling.
Today has been horrible, dark, cold and wet and so depressing. I spent the afternoon zesting and squeezing lemons, almost as sour as I felt
Will let you know when dates are confirmed.
Oooh, Chutney! I haven't done any or an age. I don't get the piles of surplus veg etc. I used to be inundated with when my other half was around
Have a good day tomorrow. It is supposed to be cold and frosty here which I will welcome. Must get the coal in.

Well, the boots were a great success, not only was i warm and dry,i can also drive comfortably in them. This is because they have a bendy ridge over the arch of the foot. Now i don't need to keep changing my footwear every five minutes
I noticed when i was out and about, the Brent Geese have arrived,so winters here for sure, also, i spotted Redpol, Siskins and Bramblings by the score. I also took a look at the very old Badger sett,it has grown since i was last there.I put a picture on flickr for you to see.No Badgers,it was the middle of the day,but you can see from the size of it,it has been there for ages. The warden of the nature reserve recons the Badgers have moved 25 tonnes of earth so far
Work was awful this weekend, there is a bug going around,we were so short staffed,i had to do the whole lot all on my own, breakfast, a three course lunch and tea,i am exhausted.
I shall have a really and go to bed,

Websailor Posted Dec 2, 2012
That's some tonnage Sue. I will have a look in a minute
Glad the boots are good and dual purpose, I always like things like that
Is it the big that is going round hospitals and care homes? It sounds horrible. Do take care, that's the last thing you need before Christmas.
*waves* to Scorp - hope you are ok
Put Xmas tree and lights up today as granddaughter is visiting tomorrow (I hope). I don't usually do it till a week before Xmas but the lights might cheer me up on horrible dull wet days!
Take care,

I opened the dreaded cupboard under the stairs, stared defiantly at the Christmas decorations, then closed the cupboard door firmly and that's how it will stay for another two weeks
The bug going around is not the dreaded winter vomiting thing,it is a nasty cough and cold. The staff have been advised not to bring it to work, consequently we are short staffed, some genuine and some jumping on the band wagon
I spoke to Scorp. today, she informed me her PC. has died a death,so,apart from when she pops into the library, she will be off line for a while
I hope your lights cheered you up,it is cold wet and miserable here.I am going to try to get out sometime this week, but i can't say the forecast is encouraging....
Now 67 and feeling it!
Websailor Posted Dec 3, 2012
The lights did cheer me up and my granddaughter's squeals and big hug when she saw them was worth the effort.
I don't usually put mine up till about a week before the day, then I leave them till twelfth night. Any longer and they get too dusty from the coal fire, which is lovely in this weather.
It is weird here, it freezes overnight then rains early morning and washes it all away and it has been sunny again today.
I have felt better while it is frosty and sunny, I don't mind the cold.
So glad it isn't the winter vomiting thing, that's horrible. I hope you can manage to get out for some fresh air to blow the germs away.
Thanks for telling me about Scorp, what a just before Christmas! I honestly don't know what I would do if anything happened to mine!
Stay well,

Hi both! This is one of those popping into the library days.
Guess where my list of Christmas card addresses is - got it in one - on the PC. Therefore I'll take this opportunity of wishing you both season's greetings from here. Sue I passed your greetings on to SS and Harry - Harry was suitably impressed.
Take care both and speak soon.
Scorp.

Never mind, there's always New Year, Valentine's Day, Easter, Whitsun ......
i found writing mine this year difficult as it coincided with today, when i lost PHM two years ago. i found all sorts of memories flooding back which i would rather not have experienced, so I went out and braved the 'all day' fog which never lifted. It was better than talking to myself

I find it difficult to believe that it is really two years WS. I was only thinking of him this week, when I found some photos from when SS and I went to a bird fair where PHM used to help and I cannot for the life of me remember where it is.
Also I seem to be up and running for the moment.
Take care both.

Was it Middleton Hall, Staffs? That is the only place he volunteered.
Been away for the weekend to babysit granddaughter and had a lovely time with both sons, partner and little one.
Younger son did the babysitting for me as she wouldn't have anything to do with Granny for stories she wanted Uncle!
I wish I could bottle her energy as I am CCd and glad to get home for some peace

Hi both.
WS! Yes it was indeed Middleton Hall. During one of my more moments, I totally forgot to label the CD at the time.
If I get this right, you should see Harry feeling bored.

Yea, you got it right - and he looks how I feel. Two days with a hyperactive (almost) three year old takes it out of one and I have more in store over Xmas. Wish I knew what she was 'on' as I could do with some of her energy
I had forgotten you went to Middleton Hall. I have moments too, far too often actually
