I am back and wish i wasn't. I had a wonderful time thanks to Scorp & SS. I have spent the last couple of days sorting out the greenhouse,or the Triffid house as it is now known. I have also been trying to get to grips with the multitude of pictures that i took.
WS. i looked at your journal with the Gorillas and was captivated. This made me sort out the pictures i took of the visit to Trentham Monkey Forest.I am sure you would love it there, you must get C to take you for a day out. There are no cages, just a sixty acre enclosure of woodland where the monkeys,Barbary Macaques, run around freely and you can run around freely with them, ours was more of a slow sauntersmiley - laugh We were lucky that the babies were just six to seven weeks old and just finding their way, they were so comical,i could have watched them for days and not got bored for a second

I will sort out the rest of the pictures soon, but, back to work tomorrow, heaven knows what i will find smiley - ermsmiley - cheers

Goodness Sue, that went quickly. Pleased you had a good time. The gorilla video was beautiful, glad you liked it. The Monkey forest sounds interesting, I shall have to look in to it. I don't see much of C these days, he is rather occupied at the moment.

I really must do something about our holiday but things are a bit hectic at the moment and I am still so damned tired smiley - grr I sleep well but it doesn't seem to help.

*waves* to Scorp, thanks for giving my friend a good holiday smiley - biggrin

Hi both smiley - biggrin WS. scary it isn't,in fact, they take very little interest in us humans, they swing about in the trees, spend ages grooming each other and playing about,it is lovely smiley - biggrin
Now about SCARY,you may have noticed i put up a couple of pictures of The Heights of Abraham and the cable cars smiley - erm Scorp. thought she might be the one to freak out.I wasn't sure how i would feel, but was quietly confident, but it was SS who was wishing he had brought a change of underwear smiley - laugh I must admit it was a bit disconcerting when it stopped mid air and swayed about in the breeze,so, i concentrated on taking pictures instead of crying out "I want my Mummy!" smiley - rofl It was well worth the effort, the views from the top are amazing smiley - wow
As long as it is not raining,i am off to Arne in the morning. The rut should have begun and i always have fun ducking and diving the stags.I shall go very early so i don't get bogged down with twitchers.
smiley - cheers

I had enough of 'I want my Mummy' last night, babysitting but she soon calmed down smiley - biggrin

Those Heights would finish me, I am terrified. I hope you get to see the stags without being chased smiley - biggrin

Need to put my feet up, a two and a half year old has worn me out smiley - smiley

I made it to Arne, sadly, the rut has not started yet.I knew as soon as i got there, it was far too quiet. No shrieks, whistles or manic cackling laughter and the warning notices were not up. I still had a lovely walk and i could see that this years young were still very close to their mothers, also there were hardly any stags lurking about, they were probably asleep somewhere. When the rut is on the stags are charging about all day. I still got some nice pictures thoughsmiley - biggrin
As for baby sitting,i know just how tiring that is.Tomorrow is Harry's third birthday, where has the time gone? I feel sorry for him already as Sarah has insisted on making his cake smiley - erm She can't cook to save her life and has phoned me three times already with questions,i should think her phone is now covered with flour, sugar and butter smiley - laughsmiley - cheers

The Woodland Trust is saying that Autumn will be very late this year. I don't know quite what triggers the rut but most animals react to the seasons.

*CAKE* My granddaughter, when asked some time ago, 'what is tomorrow?' She said 'Daddy's Birthday .... CAKE!!!!! smiley - biggrin So we know what registers with her now. She also has inherited her Mum's love of teashops, teak/coffee and cake!!

Will look at photos when I get a chance. I must get on, things are catching up with me and C is paying a brief visit on Saturday so I must be organised smiley - biggrin

Hello both! Got back from Berwick on Tweed Friday; and retrieved the post from the mat. Amongst the pile of bills was a card from the sorting office asking that I collect a package which needed to be signed for. So! off we went wondering what on earth it could be - I hadn't sent for anything.

Oh Sue you are absolutely magic smiley - cheers. As soon as I opened the package and then the card, I fell about laughing, it was soooooo wonderful. I told SS that I already knew who it was from before I opened the card and I was right. Thank you so much for it and the DVD (do you want that back?)

I did however, wonder in passing, why they had suddenly moved Halloween from the end of October without telling me smiley - biggrin

Sue, hope you are ok. Been reading about the rounding up of the New Forest ponies which was fascinating, but dangerous - I hope you kept out of the way ,biggrin.

Hi Scorp, hope you had a nice break.

Babysitting this weekend which went well, and I am on call for next weekend too as they are moving house. Not an easy task with both working full time and a fearsomely energetic two year old hence my involvement.

Cream crackered but it livens my life up a bit smiley - smiley

Sorry to have been absent for a while, what with work and other stuff i have been very busy.
As soon as i sent the post to you Scorp,i realised what i had donesmiley - doh i promised you the DVD,because of the Lyme connections, then i saw all the Halloween stuff in the shop and thought, blimey! that has come round quick and put your Birthday card in with it. Of course, the minute i got home,i thought to myself, you big smiley - tit Scorp will think i have lost the plot, smiley - laugh
Amongst other things that have kept me occupied, was my sainted mother. My sister informed me she was very poorly. I leaped into the car and hair brained it off to Brighton, only to find her scoffing chocolates washed down with a malt whisky. She asked me what on earth i was doing in Brighton and would i like a cup of tea? I said,no i don't want any smiley - bleep tea,i would have a large one of what she was having, without the chocolates!smiley - laugh
Needless to say,i have not been out anywhere of interest and next week looks to be the same, smiley - sigh I was given a 50p an hour pay rise at work,so miracles do happen,my boss saw me flapping my arms amout and asked what i was doing smiley - erm I said, as you have somehow managed to prise your wallet open, there must be a plague of moths invading the place and i am trying to catch them smiley - rofl
I have one day spare next week and i want to go to Arne,i should be catching up on my housework, but that can wait, unless it is raining,so fingers crossed.
Don't over do it with the babysitting this weekend WS,easier said than done,at that age they are turbo charged. smiley - biggrinsmiley - cheers

I would have had the chocolate as well smiley - biggrin Glad she was ok anyway.

Good luck with Arne, my weather forecast is for it to deteriorate towards the end of the week.

The weekend was glorious weather whch meant they got work done which would have been impossible with poppet under their feet. The coming weekend should be 'interesting' as I am not sure she will be so amenable with all the upheaval.

I have two nice Baileys glasses and nothing to put in them. I think I might need it by Monday smiley - rofl Not supposed to, but I have had my cholesterol test so what the hecksmiley - huh

Enjoy the rise, that is nearly as bad as the 25p when you reach 85 smiley - biggrin but as someone keeps telling us - 'Every little helps' smiley - smiley

Take care,

I did get my day off and went to Arne. It was well worth it,rutting stags were charging about and the air was filled with shrieks, grunts and a noise like a rusted door hinge closing. It was very windy,so the rain held off. There was a lot of fighting going on and some of it looked very painful. Pictures in the usual place.
This week,Ethan got the results of his 11+ and passed it. Not only that,he took the entrance exam to Poole Grammar and Bournemouth School for Boys, both the top schools in the area. He Passed both of those with very high marks smiley - wow as there is such a fight to get into these schools, they obviously only take the boys with the highest marks and he is in that category for both. I rang and congratulated him, but,he was so blase about it all and said," I told you i would make you proud of me Nana, now you must help me to choose which university i am going to go to" For once,i was speechless, smiley - laugh
Hope this finds you both well, smiley - cheers

Oh, Sue that is wonderful. Which one will they choose? He must be very bright indeed to pass both, and now he is thinking about university!! smiley - yikes

It won't mean anything to him but give him a 'well done' from me.

My son's move at the weekend went comparatively smoothly. Poppet was a poppet and we had two lovely days, though I have been CCd ever since smiley - smileyI dread the thought they could be doing it all again in less than six months!!

Glad you had a good day at Arne and didn't get mown down smiley - smiley We are having some lovely Autumn days at the moment and all my jobs are indoor ones smiley - grrsmiley - grr

I have the family over Saturday for my birthday so I must get a move on - things to do!

smiley - bubblysmiley - chocsmiley - cake And Baileys smiley - biggrinHappy Birthday! I hope you are having a great time with your family.smiley - hug
I am not having a great time with my family. My mother has been admitted to hospital after a fall, well two falls. She rang my sister after falling out of bed smiley - huh My sister told her to stay put and she would drive straight over. My mother decided to ignore my sister and went downstairs. She put on a pan of milk to get a warm drink, went into the lounge to draw the curtains, fell over again, could not get up! smiley - sigh sooo when my sister got there, there was burning milk and my mother lying on the floor doing her accounts. The aforesaid accounts were on the coffee table with a pen and paper, which went over with her. She said she just as well get on with the job whilst she was waiting for help smiley - bleep Thankfully,my mother has broken no bones, but she is suffering from a bladder infection, which was probably why she fell in the first place, that and dehydration. I can't get to Brighton until Thursday, but i ring her every day. I don't know why i bother, the last conversation we had half an hour ago,was total twaddle and she rounded off this intimate chat by thanking me for calling, but, she already had double glazing and would i not call again smiley - erm Her pulse is very low and they are talking about fitting a pacemaker. I suppose this means my mother will be running on batteries for the next ten years.smiley - laugh If it wasn't so funny,i would be crying smiley - cheers
