Just because it's been awhile.
Posted Mar 17, 2000
So, how are things with me? Well, I can't help but be a little bit jealous of the guys who got to go to Miami, especially since we're having another cold spell here. One thing I can't stand is wildly fluctating temperatures. It makes me sick. No, I mean literally; I get sinus infections.
Still, things are going pretty well in my neck of the woods. My fellow classmates finally convinced me to go to the prom this year. I opted to stay home my junior year, partly because I didn't have any money, and partly because I didn't feel like I'd enjoy myself. But times have changed, and I'm going this year. I already got a date, and now I just need to learn how to dance. Oh, I've been to dances before, but I don't know how to dance dance. Swiveling my hips and wildly flailing my arms won't cut it for some of the dances at prom. I need to find someone to teach me how to dance.
In other news, tomorrow is senior skip day, an American tradition where the whole senior class skips school on a certain day. It's saftey in numbers; Even Wacko Clacko (our assistant principal in theory, head principal in practice, Mr. Clacko, who looks like Fidel Castro, and is at least as fanatic as him about certain protocols) isn't crazy enough to punish an entire graduating class for something like that.
*crosses fingers*
I've also scheduled my graduation party. It's Friday, June 16th at 6:00 PM at Santoro's Hall, and you're all invited.
I can't believe I'm going to graduate from high school in less than three months.
*crosses fingers again*
It just doesn't seem possible. I'll admit it. I'm a little bit scared. But it'll all turn out for the best.
*crosses every part of the body, except for eyes, because the feeling that brings is really disturbing to me*
I've been really busy lately, so I haven't had time to write any articles, but I'll get back to it eventually. And I'm really, REALLY sorry about that St. Pat's top ten list. I promise I won't include it in the archive. I've gotta stop writing those things after 20 hours of being up.

The moment we've all been waitng for has arrived!
Posted Feb 14, 2000
Well, technically I'm the only one who's been waiting for it, but that would have made a lousy title. You may ask yourself "What the hell is he talking about?" And then yourself may tell you "Just keep reading. He's about to tell you." Then again, it may not answer you at all, so I'll say it for you. Just keep reading. I'm about to tell you.
Last Friday, February 11, at approximately 3:00 PM US Eastern Standard Time, (or is it daylight? I'm never quite sure.) I recieved in the mail the final edition to my library of
*drumroll*
Red Dwarf videos! Now I have 8 full Series, the 10th anniversery specials, and both blooper tapes, Smeg Ups and Smeg Outs, at my fingertips. If I want to see Quarantine, followed by Stasis Leak, and top it all off with Krytie TV, I can prepare my visual feast faster than you can say Red Dwarf enough times that it sounds like "Fred War". I can watch Can't Smeg Won't Smeg, Back to Reality, and finish with the Smeg Outs tape which includes a full length "smeg-mix" version of the Cat's song Tounge Tied. I can--well you get the point. Forget the time drive! Who needs dinner with the Hitlers when you have this kind of entertainment! Woo-hoooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!
I'm happy.

You can come out of your bomb shelters now!

I converted my user page to GuideML, and it appears to be fully functional. I also wrote an article on Brian Boru, and it has been accepted by the H2G2 Historical Society. I updated the top 10 list, and archived the old one, which I will do every week.
In other news: Today was the last day of the semester at my high school, so I know for sure now that I passed it. If you recall, I was sick for months and missed 24 days of school. I got most of them excused, but then they refused to write any more excuses because the quack doctor didn't know what was wrong with me. So all this month, I had to force myself to school, even if I was sick, and you know what? I think I'm all the better for it. I'm back in a routine, awake and asleep at the proper times, and moving around, and I feel a lot better. I was getting better anyway, but I think this helped.

Ever Onwards!
Posted Jan 26, 2000
Web Update: I've been doing a lot of work on internet stuff these past few weeks, much to my mother's dismay. (We only have one phone line, but I'm trying to talk her into buying a second one. I even offered to pay half.) Anyway, I'm working on making a screensaver for Floor 42, and I've been doing a lot right here. To recap: Put the cool "what's that line" stuff up, started the Top 10 List tradition, made an archive for old Top 10 lists, Set aside a place for debates, and "made" a list of Floor 42 members' user pages.
Next up: I plan to convert the whole page to GuideML (It's HTML now) and make it look nice, and write an article on the history of toilets for the h2g2 historical society. Yes, you heard me right, toilets. I also hope to update my webpage, but I don't know when I'll get around to that.
Personal Update: I'm finally back in the game, healthwise. I've been sick for over a quarter of a year, but I haven't missed a day of school since Y2K rolled around. I just made up my last test today, just in time for the end of the semester on Friday. I picked up my senior pictures, and I all but completed my Red Dwarf Collection. (One more video!) I bought a modem for the old laptop my brother-in-law gave me for breakfast. In fact I am using it right now. I have been accepted to Kent State, and have made a visitation. I started liking spaghetti sauce. (I used to hate it, and ate my pasta plain.) Now I use a half a jar every time I eat pasta! I applied for a credit card through the mail, but haven't received it yet. Well, that's about it. Guess I'll call it a night.

Victory for Yellowstone Wolves!
Posted Jan 14, 2000
(copied in it's entirety from my thread at www.floor42.com)
I don't know if this will interest any of you, but I just recieved an
email from Defenders of Wildlife that said this:
Dear DEN Wolf Activist:
I wanted to take this opportunity to share with you some great
news!
Just hours ago, the 10th Circuit Court of Appeals in Denver ruled
unanimously in favor of our appeal to leave the wolves in
Yellowstone
National Park and central Idaho. The decision overturns a lower
court
ruling which would have forced the wolves to be removed from the
park. "Removal" in this case would have meant killed, for there was
no place for them to go. The decision also finally puts to rest
efforts led by the American Farm Bureau Federation to end the
Yellowstone wolf recovery program, which has been hailed by
conservationists as the most important wildlife victory of the 20th
century.
Thanks to all of you who helped generate more than 140,000
responses
to the American Farm Bureau opposing their law suit and supporting
wolf recovery. Your efforts helped. This week the American Farm
Bureau announced that the organization elected a new President,
ousting former President Dean Kleckner, who was one of the most
outspoken opponents environmental protection in general and wolf
recovery in particular.
Thanks again for your enthusiasm and commitment on this
important
issue. I am including a press release that we issued on today's
momentous decision.
Sincerely,
Rodger Schlickeisen
President
Defenders of Wildlife
I am a wolf activist, and I have been monitoring this case with
fingers crossed for months now. I am so glad that justice prevailed
and the Wolf Recovery Program can continue it's successful
reintroduction. My dream is to see the wolf run wild from sea to sea
for the first time in over a century before I die, and the Wolf
Recovery Program has shown that it is an attainable goal, by
educating the public about what wolves are really like, passing
protective legislation, raising money to compensate livestock owners
for losses, and sucessfully reintroducing the wolf into Yellowstone
and Idaho. Our job is to keep the wolf-haters at bay, and the
wolves do the rest. The results have been
overwhelming--populations have grown faster than even the most
optimistic predictions. (See www.defenders.org for statistics). I
was worried about this court case, but now I am confident that this
beautiful and intelligent animal will make a close-to-full recovery if
only we let them. Organizations like Defenders and the WERC (
www.wolfcenter.org ) are helping to teach our nations youth that
wolves should be admired and not feared. (There has never been a
single documented case of an unprovoked attack on a human from a
healthy wolf.) I just wanted to share my joy with you this day.
