They're predicting a quiet hurricane season. I don't live in the hurricane belt, but I'm sure the folks who do are feeling somewhat relieved now,.

I'm still hoping, especially after the lo-ong drought, that we get a major storm this year.

The Salton Sea could use 3- 4 meters increase in depth.

Storms like that are unusual but have happened in memory of the living.

Of course when we get a storm like that, it originates usually in the monsoonal system west of central America, moving northward, over Hudson's Bay coming from the northeast, or both simultaneously.

If elephants had made love in my back garden, my sunflowers and geraniums would have gotten flattened. They seem fine, though.

They do it in private. I only notice that there are many more of them after the fact.

One time, when I was living on my sail boat, I heard a loud series of shrikes. When I went up to see what was going on I saw a pair of sea gulls atop one of my pilings doing their best to make little sea gulls

The siege of mice seems to have finally ended. They were playing havoc with my breakfast cereal. I had to euthanize nine mice in four days. Some were silent, some squeaked, and a couple made heart-rending cries. I felt bad enough about killing them as it was.

Had you not, they could have done heavier damage to your food stocks. I like the idea of symbiosis, but you can't take it too far, Paul.

I havent seen a in ages round here. My guess is that the packs of feral cats keep'em at bay.

ITIWBS/Florida Sailor, said feral cats have made the neighbourhood backyards their mating territory as well. They are not shy, sometimes bringing their kittens along.
