Cor - I was looking at that one thinking "Yer, your cathode ray tube's gone" ... and then thought "Ah, someone else will answer it" 
Whereas, in your case, the orange screen is due to over-oompaing

Was watching Brazil for the first time. Stuck it into the deeveedoo player and settled down.
The picture was a bit distorted and orange but thinking that it was a Gilliam film, thought it was supposed to look slightly odd.
The film finished and I switched the deeveedoo player off. Changed channels and saw that every other channel was orange too. 
I'd sat on one of the brightness/colour ditortyness buttons on the remote control after I'd put it on.

I'm trying to remember if there's anything orange in it all. In the original version, I mean, rather than the Director's Orange Cut

I think I enjoyed it, but all I can remember about it is kicking myself after watching it.
I should really watch it again to put this 'Brazil = Orange' connotation out of my head.
