The old guy in the hospital - 'Junior' - is Tony Soprano's uncle: he hasn't been in it for a while. They fell out after he tried to kill Tony one time. As you do

I feel like I've walked in on a conversation half way through it and don't know what's being talked about.

It's always been a bit like that - these huge chunks of backstory that you're not really meant to get entirely. The killing in 1982? Don't think that's ever been mentioned before. All very complicated

Have you found an especially yummy bit?

You know those people who sign for the deaf who pop up in the corner of the screen in the early hours of the morning? (All deaf people are insomiacs) They should have a person who explains the backstory on this. Thoush, then you'd miss what was happening now and would need a smaller person next to the first to explain what's happening now.
