Old woman in house movie
Posted Jan 13, 2015
Well here I am, holidays almost over...
S and I went to see the Maggie Smith/Kevin Kline/Kirstin Scott-Thomas flick last night and it was ver' enjoyable.
Susan will just have had her last radiotherapy session. This means she won't have to go to ARI every Mon-Fri, meaning fewer visitors for Peet.
I have been pre-work working but I may go out for a wee stroll as otherwise I will have been cooped up in the house all day.
That's all...

And again
Posted Jan 11, 2015
Back to work later in the coming week then a grind grind grind through to the Spring hols then exams.
I am in K today.
S and I did the charity shops yesterday. I got clothes and a fountain pen - another fountain pen. S got a Reader Digest DIY manual. We did Aberdeen then Stonehaven. We walked along the front at Stoney then had a pint in a harbour pub - or, at least, I did. Thrappledowser.
S has just seen a one-legged robin outside. OK, so that's Peet the robin.
Lamb kebabs for tea.
S' radio ends on Tuesday, but herceptin into the Spring.

At Kemnay once more
Posted Jan 7, 2015
It's cauld and dark outside.
I am here for tea and the evening.
Tomorrow S and I may go out for pizza.
S had R today plus a wee chat with the radiologist. Tomorrow she gets more R plus Herceptin. She went to see the K after her R. There were lots of visitors including one up from Dundee, S picked me up afterwards and took me out to Kemnay. She was supposed to collect me beforehand but forgot which means I was spared mucho mucho in the way of kvetching and self-delusion; anyhow, chicken for tea.
I washed the bedroom curtains yesterday. I got a morning of Uni work done - aye, me still on leave - and hope to get at least as much if not more done tomorrow.
I watched a Poirot last night. Dead Man's Folly. I slept with the curtains wide open.
I have just taken down the holiday decorations at Kem.
Out backie at ARI, in the hinterlands, there are lots of fascinating old buildings. Yesterday I found a walled bowling green with clubhouse and buildings, all apparently maintained. I suspect that there may be a deli in there, plus a record shop, packed to the gunwales with Moody Blues LPs. The place - ARI - is massive, with extensive hinterlands. It is like Gormenghast. (I read G when I was 20. I no longer have the patience to do the such like).

OTs are doubtless trained to deal with all sorts...
Posted Jan 5, 2015
... but still, you have to take your hat off to them.
S and I saw a fairly full performance today, met at every sally with polite pragmatic realism and professionalism. Go-faster stripes? Not an option. Kandy-color tangerine flake spray-job? Any colour you like as long as its black. Chopper handlebars? Aye, in yer dreams. A cupholder? You can sort that out yourself.
S had R today. I did some work in a half-hearted manner, with lots of washing as an avoidance strategy. We saw P at ARI, getting fitted for his wheelchair. On getting home I had a go at hopping up the stairs using only one leg and one arm. I fell flat on my face, but I suppose that persons younger and fitter and healthier than I could manage it no problem, such as, for example, Burt Lancaster's old circus pal Nick Cravat https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qboblCx2N1Y.
(I always wanted him to fall on his face too, mind).

At Kemnay
Posted Jan 4, 2015
The pavements were glass-like and ver' slippy.
S and I had a walk around the village then went to the Aldi at Inverurie.
I had a bit of Uni work I needed to do today but the login didn't work.
S has Radio tomorrow and we may well try to see Birdman in the evening.
We may also try to fit in a visit to Peet.
There was an early-ish Disney character named Peg Leg Pete. In fact, Pete was used in a number of guises and I think that he was based on Eric Campbell from the Chaplin flicks - think the big bad ruffian from Easy Street.
A bright day but deuced cold.
Johnny Walker is interviewing Ray and Dave Davies on R2 at 5. Probably worth a listen.
