Oreet.smiley - biggrin

Just wanted to wish you luck at the Dr's tomorrow....today even.
I went over your journal about your headaches and paid a bit more attention to a couple of things...
Count Zero was right in saying GP's are usually pretty rubbish at sourcing causes of pain, I've personal experience of that, also having been sent to a neurologist for a headache that lasted for over 2 weeks, having a CT scan, the life frightened out of me, and having to wait 2 months for the results. I didn't have a cerebral hemorrhage as was suggested by the Neurologist, nor did I have the brain tumor I eventually convinced myself I had. The good news was that they did actually find evidence of me having a brain...just not a particularly useful one.
Anyway, the point of all this is, I've had pretty severe back problems for the last 10 years, and was convinced when I initially went to the Dr with the headache that this was the underlying cause, once given the all clear by the Neuro wotsit, I went and got me some chiropractic treatment. Which was pretty bloody amazing, I'd hobbled in their with a walking stick, a couple of months later, I was practically fully mobile again. It was bloody expensive though, and had to stop treatment about half way through, but that's by the by.
I've since spent 2 years working in an osteopathic clinic (supposedly having free treatment as part of the package, but which never actually transpired...again, irrelevant to this, but I like to waffle). I've watched allsorts of people come and go with varying degrees of back pain, and allsorts of afflictions and wotnot caused as a result of something folk did to their backs at some point or another. What I found fascinating was that these guys (osteos) seem to be able to pin point and find specific causes of pain that radiates as a result of a back or muscular injury, most only taking a short course of treatment to correct. (We're nearly getting to the point of all the blether...hold onto your sandwich) If you come away from the doctors tomorrow and have been fobbed off, or you really do think that your headaches are being caused by the muscle injury you had, then I'd urge you to give seeing an Osteopath a go. The chappy I worked with (jolly good sort) did a stint at a practice up in Leeds, so I'm sure he'd be able to recommend someone to you who knows their onions, there are a lot of crap ones obviously, Osteopath's that is, not onions, although I have had a couple of onions recently that were all brown and slimy in the middle...but anyway, if you did think it's something you think is worth giving a go, let me know and I'll see what I can come up with.smiley - ok

Oooh...by the way, I was outrageously nosey and had a look at the valentine link you got from the mysterious masked poster...smiley - erm

No doubt you got zillions of others, smiley - envy

They are? I always thunked they were a brand of marshmallow.

The doctor that I saw last year I decided agasint seeing, but the other doctor that I occasionally see is on her holidays. So it's a locum that I'll see today. Hopefully, she won't try to fob me off.

I was talking to someone yesterday about it who was trying to diagnose me.

"Stressed?"
"Not really."
"Eating right?"
"Yeah"
"Drinking right?"
"Yep."
"That's it then, must be a brain tumour."

smiley - laugh Good to have a vote of confidence. smiley - ok

You don't have anymore problems with your back at all now?

Ah, so that's what you do. smiley - bigeyes I had illusions of you being Englands champion bramble picker. (Maybe I mean delusions...)
I'm sure it must be something to do with that muscle. It can't be anything serious if it's just affected by the season, as it seems to be.

I had an incredibly early night last night, 7.30, duvet, hot chocolate and a cookie. I didn't get to sleep for a few more hours but I think it did me some good. I've just woken up and there's no aches or pains. smiley - erm I did take some paracetamol though, so that may be why. smiley - erm

Thanks for telling me about osteo...ostrinol...about ostriches. I'll have a think about whether to see one.smiley - ok

Bah, Valentines! smiley - cross Didn't get one card, I'm unloved!

Did you get some?

Go on, keep waffling. I enjoy it. smiley - smiley

The cards were from my son and the catsmiley - erm (She's obviously a very gifted cat and a proficient Pritt user)smiley - ok

>>You don't have anymore problems with your back at all now?<<
smiley - erm
I've got mega problems with my back at the moment (hmmm, great endorsement for ostriches eh?) but that's because I had a chronic, long standing problem when I eventually went to see the Chiropracter and needed a few months worth of treatment, I had to quit half way through as I simply couldn't afford to continue. That said, the difference she made was pretty impressive and continued for quite sometime, but it all went wonky again when I was looking after my mum and having to lift her and wotnot, and just got worse ever since.
As I said, part of the package of my old job was supposed to include treatment, part of the reason I got the job, as I knew I needed a lot of treatment and I couldn't afford to pay, but, I only got a couple of treatments for one reason or another. Still, it's top of my list of priorities once I get myself employed again.
Which hopefully, now the child has decided to stop being ill should be do able!smiley - cross

Allsorts of stuff could be causing your tumouritis, bad posture accounts for a hell of a lot of headachey type things, and specifically old injurys...you do something, it hurts, gets inflamed, whilst it's hurting you throw your body out of alignment by trying to compensate for the hurty bits by shifting yourself into a position that is less hurty, and other such scientific babble. Ice is mega useful, if you grab a bag of frozen chin peas or ice and wrap in a tea towel, apply it to the hurty bit, or where your original injury was, for 10 minutes at a time 3-4 times aa day. That brings down the inflamation of the muscles which really works to lessening the pain in other areas it's radiating to. Just for future wotsits.smiley - smiley

So who was the masked doodah?smiley - bigeyes

Off to the building site again todaysmiley - erm Can I bring you anything back...forklift, bag of cement, hardhat?

Tattysyrup, smiley - erm I mean, afternoon.

Aww. smiley - smiley

smiley - cross Not even the cat got me one. Little rotbag.

Glad the little 'uns better. He's back at school and letting you play on the play station again? smiley - biggrin

I have been doing that. Leaning to the left when I'm sat down to stop pressure on the right side and causing aches at the bottom of my back instead.

Last year when I got them I was using one of those heat baggy things. I think the technical terminology is "warm bag of beans". That seemed to ease it, but the cat attacked it and I'm still finding beans everywhere. smiley - erm Trin told me to get a frozen bag of peas (Technical terminolgy: "chilly bag o' veg") but I haven't tried that yet. smiley - ok

Did a little research last night when I couldn't kip and found out who it was. smiley - bigeyes Follow the trail from the name...

She looked into my eyes, looked into my eyes, not around my eyes, into my eyes. Told me I had lovely eyes. (Nahsmiley - silly) I told her what I thought it was and she told me: "Yes, probably is."

smiley - erm Ok...

Anyway, lots of piffle was spoken until she tried to give me the tablets I had last year which didn't work. So I've got some that are ever so slightly stronger.

Just read your journal before I got in here.

Right. *rolls sleeves up*

If you have an inflamatorical, heat doesn't help, ice, ice, ice, ice, ice...did I mention ice? For some reason, GP's in the main, don't tend to like ostriches and chrippycroctics...my theory being because they fix stuff that Dr's just give endless prescriptions of medicine for which they're sponsered by the drug companies to prescribe (oooh, smiley - bigeyes controversiality) despite a huge move for osteos etc to get involved in mainstream NHS, as they're currying favour and getting kudos for what they do, from 'proper' medical publications. Nevertheless, anti inflamatory meds should help deflame what's inflamed, but if you use ice too, it'll happen quicker and you shouldn't have to take the nasty things for so long. Wish you'd have a go at the Ostriches, I'm pretty sure you'd get sorted sooner and for the long term too....but I think I've probably extolled the virtues of the profession in a sufficiently manical manner already, so I'll shut up about it now, and hope you start feeling better soon.smiley - hug

Mystery bloke...I'm still none the wiser, I did what you said, but I think I must be a really rubbish detective.smiley - erm Tell me now! Or not.

Right. Frozen peas. Go!

smiley - erm S'not working...

*Takes peas off radiator*

What? They were too cold!

Right. Got them on. smiley - brr

The doctor wasn't keen on the idea of therapy or anything at all. I even asked her if she thought that if I'd had therapy straight after I hurt my neck originally, instead of something like 2 or 3 months after, whether that would have helped. She just said no. smiley - erm

It seems to be the same between normal opticians and contact lens opticians. They never have a good word to say about each other when I go.

I am thinking about going to an Ostrich, but I tend to put things off and think that they'll work themselves out eventually. smiley - erm If the ice and tablets don't begin to shift it then I will make myself get back to you about it, I promise! smiley - hug

Thank you for all the info about this, very good of you. smiley - smiley

I'll see if they'll let me borrow the Giant Conkers for the weekend and bring them up on the train to Sheffield then. Can't see anyone objecting.
