I tried to help, it was thrown in my face. What do you expect me to do.
I don't need to get the mods just yet. We're all nice happy people here aren't we Joe. Either bring me in or purge me entirely. Its your choice.

Ah no, but a character is. Ma'rol Mannan (or Marol Mannan) is a character of my creation, which has been stolen and theres plenty of proof that the Ma'rol Mannan in the background story is my character Ma'rol Mannan. He does belong to me, and if you really want to contest it read:
'Remember, when you contribute to the guide you are giving the BBC permission etc etc etc'
Thats the BBC - not HPB's story of wonderment. Sorry but I'm a complete mercenary - you want my character, I come like a thorn with it.

*looks at the address of the site, notices it is the bbc*
sorry AD the story is on the bbc, marol is part of the story,
you put him on, where he will stay

So what your saying is if I write an award winning book, then Im buggered because I post parts on the BBC? Don't think so or get writting would have been a quieter place.
Besides this isnt stuck material like postings (which I'm not stupid enough to ask to be removed), this is material that can be freely edited and changed - by yourselves - except you choose not to, and you (the council members) are therefore challenging my rights in regards to my creation, not the BBC themselves.
Your basic arguement is that because the address of the academy has BBC in it, then Ma'rol becomes there property. If thats true and you wish to take a stand on this then you know you'll get blown out of the water.

Dr Anthea - ah who needs to learn things... just google it! Posted Jun 15, 2005
try me.
if you put something on site then the bbc can do what they like with it
so yes if you put something on the bbc out of your award winning book
you couldnt then charge the bbc money for the honour of doing so
once is on site the bbc basically says that its public property

But they cannot use it in a defamtory way this is the other niggling point, nor can they take the character and do what they like with it. Suppose they were given an extract, the BBC couldnt be charged (full permission thing) but they cant do anything with it.
Thus the history page is defamatory, as it takes the character I have created and slanders him. As the creator of said character I am highly offended at the way he has been tarnished by you lot. So remove him or ask my approval as to your comments.
You are using my character and elaborating upon it without my permission. The BBC can't, what makes you so special?
As of course, I will never give my permission for you other people to use my character in any other way, you have to take him down from those pages. I was never asked for my permission, and certainly will never give it.

Dr Anthea - ah who needs to learn things... just google it! Posted Jun 15, 2005
you gave your permission when you signed up for the game
we're not deminishing the good name of your charecror
tell me what is that your charectors "good name" is insulted by and I will think about changing that
if it is actual in game events that its commenting on then i refuse to do anything because its not deformatory if its the truth

Asmodai Dark (The Eternal Builder, servant of Howard, Crom, and Beans) Posted Jun 15, 2005
No I didnt. There is no disclaimer on the sign up thread stating that by signing up I give my creative rights over the council members.
If I beleive you are, then you are. He/they are after all, my characters and as such the comments you have used have been not only insulting but have tarnished him.
So what your syaing is that if Ma'rol is involved in the background, then you can comment away however you choose, even if that perspective is only the councils and is one to be considered defamatory?
I beleive if I allow my character to be used, then he will be used in a way in which is negative and defamatory, and even if I agree now at a later date it will be changed without my consent. Also, the fact that this has all been in place so long has meant it has already done plenty of damage to ma'rol character. I as the creator of Ma'rol Mannan, want to see him protected.

You know, this Academy is more trouble than it is worth.
You guys are putting us in a very difficult position. We have someone complaining about his character being used by others, despite the fact that this whole forum is making free with the concept of Jedis, which you're probably aware is a trademark of LucasFilm.
Since this academy was established, all we've had is a succession of arguments and fighting. As this group revolves around copyrightable material, and as it offers nothing but pages upon pages of unpleasant squabbling, we have no option but to close this academy forthwith. All content relating to Jedis will be removed and the pages closed down.
The irony is, had you behaved yourselves, we wouldn't have even noticed you were here.
We will give you 24 hours to copy any of your contributions to your own PCs, after which time, these pages will be removed.

Asmodai Dark (The Eternal Builder, servant of Howard, Crom, and Beans) Posted Jun 16, 2005
Dont delete the pages please dont. Its is a game that has thrived in the past and that people are passionate about which is why stuff comes on site.
There alright if they have permission from Wizards (iirc) who make the current RPG for star wars in regards to trademark, because they own the rights to make the RPG's and as this is non profet it doesnt interfer.
I dont want the academy gone because its bloody good and if you go read the stories you'll agree, but I dont like the way somethings have happened with my character - thats why I wanted to be removed.

Oh well done people, well done indeed
now just the Magician's Guild to go and then will you be happy

Hmm Posted Jun 16, 2005
I'm sorry it's come to this.
I wish I had joined earlyer, I could have tried to calm things down a bit...
Isn't it strange how a game about people who train themselves to stop these situations was torn apart by this.
Jedi Academy Requests.
Reefgirl (Brunel Baby) Posted Jun 16, 2005
Peace, you would NEVER have calmed this down, even the UN couldn't have done it, this called for Baseball Bat diplomacy
And before anyone else says it, yes I contributed to a lot of the bad feeling here before I saw the light and left
