AN UPDATE! :O

Eep an Academy update!

Well apart from the newish Episode scroll on the main page we now have Mustafar: A6888568.

Hooray for vague, uncomplicated planets.

There should be more Episode III planets soon along with the start of the Hall of Fame. smiley - winkeye

The Jedi Academy is 2 today!

Oh dear, this place has - despite arguments, threats of closure and me - remained around long enough to be two years old.

Despite being in the regular down period the Academy seems to suffer regularly there's no reason why member/ex-member/lurker alike can't slightly mumble "Yippee!".

So smiley - cheers for those that have stuck by it, and smiley - cheers to those who have been involved in it and smiley - cheers to who have helped out behind the scenes.

Every post, be it in-character, OOC, or simply a passer by stumbling in by accident, have in one way or another kept this place running.

The Academy's come a long way from when I first rebelled against the usual RPing .::text::.

Thank you all,
HPB

a proclamation

as most of you will know the jedi academy has been under threat of closure, to be deleted from h2g2 because of the amount of petty squabbeling which has been going on
today which should have been the day the academy was deleted we heard from jimster,
this is what was said

Feel free to post a link to this posting to the relevant threads.

The problem we face is that while h2g2 is a lot of things, it's not really supposed to be an RPG site. We can turn a blind eye to most activities so long as they don't cause us problems or break the BBC community rules. But if the only activity we ever see is fighting, why should we provide a home for that particular society when it has no direct benefit to us and seems to upset even the people who created it? And creating an RPG around someone else's intellectual property is borderline, but if we were to receive a complaint from LucasFilm themselves we would have to take the pages down without notice.

We have given numerous warnings in the past about adjusting the aggressive behaviour - most recently in an announcement on 18 May 2005, which was directed at everyone, not just one particular group.

We discussed this amongst the team yesterday and felt that it wasn't worth the effort to sustain your group if it continues to be the source of such regular conflict. So it's up to you guys to convince us otherwise. I've just asked the others if they'd be prepared to give you this weekend to sort things out among yourselves and decide what you want to do, and they agreed that we could do that. So...

smiley - tea Do you want to take this offsite and create a closed membership mailing list on Yahoo or one of the other providers?

smiley - tea Do you want to keep it on h2g2 but keep a tighter reign on things?

smiley - tea Do you want to come up with another idea to avoid having to close the group?

We don't want to have to go around closing groups because we like that h2g2 can offer the freedom to create whatever environment you guys want to have. But you have to do so in a way that doesn't cause us any additional work. We've got big plans for the future and we don't want to have to keep putting them off just to calm down fights.

I'd suggest if Asmodai Dark doesn't want you to use his character, then you should respect that and remove his character. I'd also suggest that Asmodai might want to rethink his approach though, as posting in anger could lead to him being excluded from the group.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I think we shall be keeping the jedi academy for just a little longer
lets make the best use of it we can, cut down on the squabbels and have fun. as long as we dont breach the house rules they should have no reason to close the place unless lucas arts complains which i doubt will happen,
lets be on our best behavior, polished shoes no spitting etc smiley - winkeye
