*mortified at self*
I used to be downright odd about changing outfits frequently through the day. I did not realise for a while everybody but me niticed It became a guessing game to my roomates - Would I appear with different clothes after just going into another room for any little reason?
The enourmous amount of laundry cured me of that habit!
Now I do not care about appearance or finding myself through experimenting with styles as much as being comfy. Plus nobody is here 90 percent of the time! For a while I was always wet from showering whenever I was seen - very odd ongoing coincidence that seems to have passed thankfully.
Ok I am going to take a nap.
Done enough damage for only one half of a day.

Don't worry. I've been very unreasonable and liable to read things the wrong way all day. I think it's partly the painkillers, partly tiredness and partly general head stuff. I apologise in advnace to anyone I'm really mean to in the next few days.

Welcome back, Kat.
Sounds like you been a brave girl. Snacks? Try peanut butter and banana sandwiches. Made with toast (not in a sandwich toaster). By somebody else.
More important, though, I've just realised that you call your mother "mam". I here-by accuse you of being a fellow northener!

*shakes head* I was born in Portsmouth and brought up there It's just a personal quirk. None of the rest of my family says 'mam' or anything. It's a welsh left-over from friends or something I suppose. I've never been further north than Chester!
I had pasta and pesto for dinner in the end. Didn't eat much of it though Oh well I'm sure everything will be fine soon. My leg's not too bad right now. I can't straighten it though. I'm supposed to be trying to walk on it, but I can only get the ball of my foot on the ground and moving it makes my knee feel as if it's being prodded with a skewer

Did you ever go to Haslar Hospital Kat

Kat - From H2G2 Posted Feb 4, 2005
Not for me personally but my dad broke his ankle once when he tried to jump over one of those big troughs of flowers you get on the curbside, and then he drove home with it because he was drunk enough not to really think about the fact he should go to the hospital. So then he was in Haslar.
And then once he was on his motorbike in a dark bit and he skidded on some mud and fell off. So he and the bike were sliding down the road and this car comes. The car swerves to avoid the BIKE and runs over dad's leg and misses his head with the other wheel by 6 inches!!!
So then he was in Haslar again

I have never seen you be crabby with people on here Katno matter how bad you have felt. Crabby about parents is normalfor most of us
Hope you get something you like to eat tomorrow!
It's the small things that help when you are trapped at home.
Hoping you have pleasant dreams tonight too.

Hi Kat,
Hope you don't mind me barging into your journal - I've been lurking a bit and thought I should wave and say hello. Glad your op went well. I can imagine what your leg feels like - I had an accident a year and a half ago and my knee ended up black and blue and about twice its normal size. Turned out it had bled in the bone and it took about a year before I could trust it not to give way when when I ran (not that I do much running if I can help it ). I had to be helped to the loo for a couple of days as I just couldn't walk. It was the time of that big heatwave too, so when I could finally get in the shower (with my mum helping me) it was utter bliss.
Re. snacky foods - here's a few I like:
- Apples and cheese
- Cereal (the oats and dried fruit kind)
- Carrots and houmous (which you've already had so why not keep going - carrots are great for you - but try to get organic as they are one of the worst vegetables for absorbing pesticides. And organic taste much nicer!). You could also have cucumber, celery etc. with dips.
- Peanut butter and jam on toast
- And of course, there's always , and ...
Also, rather than having a big meal, why not split it into a few small snacks? Eg. if you're having pasta, have a bit, then a bit more later. Doesn't work for a meat & three veg type meal, obviously.
Anyway, I've blathered on long enough so hope you're feeling better and that the operation ends up being a success.

Peanut butter???
I heartily recommend snacking on beer, Spanish brandy and fags. Gets me out of bed, anyway

Beer and brandy! That’s no good for Katkat! Rather have a glass of warm , or some !
I agree about the peanut butter – it’s ugh!

Hey claire, thanks for dropping by, hope to talk to you more soon.
You know guys, on top of all of the surgery etc....I think I've got the flu! I thought that all the aching and oddness was because of the tablets, but this morning I went 12 hours without any tablets and feel completely awful! Typical eh?
Today I had a small piece of pizza and some watercress for lunch, and then I've eaten four fruit pastilles, and a bit of Bombay mix as well.
Mam went to the supermarket today and got me some more carrots and houmous and Marmite on toast is my toastie choice. Peanut butter is good on bread when I'm upset.
Today I made exactly the same mistake as yesterday. I wrote katkodl a REALLY long email on my yahoo account...and sent it only to be told that my login session had expired and my mail had been deleted. Which is why you haven't had replies for two days katkodl
I'm also vanishing friends because I feel guilty about them. So if I suddenly stop talking to anyone it's not necessarily because I've died or because I hate you, I just feel very very very guilty!
My leg is reasonable. I've taken the bandaging off it now and I can bend my knee slightly more, but still can't stand on the foot fully. It's easy for surgeons to say 'Oh yes just walk on it normally with the crutches', when they never actually see patients in the first weeks after an operation! They never told me, 'Sure you won't be able to walk on it at first, but it'll get easier, just be aware that at first every time you take a step there'll be a scary clicking noise all down your leg!'
On the subject of being grumpy and grouchy. Apparently Lil's Atelier feeling that I am being unreasonable, plus several friends probably do because I'm not being very nice, but this is either:
a) I feel less indulgent and willing to put up with people I don't actually like.
b) I am more happy to say this 'Matt you know you're actually a w**ker'
c) I feel ill and am in pain and am hacked off
d) I feel guilty.
Guilt is everything.
However lots of and to everyone for still being here.
Kat
