Good bettering! That's fab
I'm okay kat but don't bounce too much...I only came off morphine this afternoon. I got back home at 6pm, had a shower and fell straight asleep but now I am reasonably up and awake.
My leg feels as if it's been stretched and left out in the cold but it's okay and I'm now trawling through everything.
I didn't expect such an excited reception from you lot!

I know that *I* would want a shower ASAP after being surrounded by the nastiness that is a hospital, sleeping on their sheets, etc. *shudder*

*tumbles into the thread*
Raspberry cheesecake is a favourite over here. I'm a bit off food right now though.
I HAD to have a shower, not just because of having been in the hospital but because of my hair. I think hospital just upsets it or something. Ever since I was in hospital in September I've HAD to wash it every day or else it feels as if a bucket of grease has been tipped over it.
Today I woke up and started screaming quietly as I felt like I'd been shot in the knee. It was not a happy way to start the day. However now I'm doped up on coddeine and ibuprofen and so just feel a bit spacey, plus my head, nose and throat seem to be a bit unhappy and feel as if I've got a cold or the flu or something. My nose is still randomly bleeding a bit so everything tastes of blood.
HOWEVER the cold sweats have gone!!!
Erm what else might people want to know? I'm still incrediably tired so anyone who's used to talking to me in the evening US time will probably be missing me for at least the next few days. However I'm trying to keep up with email at least, so anyone who's used to talking to me late can email me at
[email protected]
and I'll get back to you every day
I'm supposed to have a piano lesson on Monday but somehow I don't think that's going to happen. I could get her to just do theory though. I've FINISHED my grade 3 theory book finally so I'm going to start the grade 4 stuff today or tomorrow. Quite chuffed with myself. I'm awful at theory and it takes me ages, but it's just like any maths with me. It takes me years to understand but once I do then it's easy and I whoosh through...until I forget it all again
Is everyone else alright? Everyone happy and being good? I feel as if I've been away for weeks rather than days

Sounds like you're doing just fine, Kat.
There is always a certain amount of 'post op' trauma to be expected, often taking the form of emotional flux. Really, this is totally *normal* and it will pass . . .
Just keep taking very good care of yourself and keep us posted as to how you are doing - for when you need a

Funny that everyone stuck with the Good bettering... It's just a straight unintelligent translation from a Swedish expression, but it seems to work , and I hope your process of getting better goes well, and fast, and leaves you in mint condition!
Here , a little treat to distract you a minute!

A present!! Gosh golly! Wonder what it is
Actually I've recieved...a booklet from katkodl (she won't call it a book because it's a children's book) in German.
Mikey is sending...stuff!! Books and sweets and a CD I do believe
And I got my photographs back from the developers today! So many out of focus ones I think I need to steal dad's old camera because point-and-click ones just aren't good enough for me.
Actually I'm feeling quite happy right now! Well...depressed and my ears are making a strange noise, but the drugs seem to be keeping me reasonably happy. I'm not eating enough though Even I can see that. Do you think it matters at the minute?
What is the phrase in Swedish? Can we have it phonetically?

God bättring - gewd bet-ring? the o sounds like oo in oodles but not in good...
hope it makes sense! There is a couple of comedians in town, who have perfected the phony-phonetics of making Swedish words pronouncable... so 'A t-shirt' would be 'ehn teh-treyah'(En t-tröja) and 'for real' - På riktigt - 'paw rihk-tit'
Their show has been running for a year, but now they stopped. It's called 'Hipp-hipp paw rihk-tit'

Ahhh!!! One day I must make my way to Sweden.
I'm not feeling too bad now actually...although I suspect it's because I'm on loads of painkillers and haven't moved except for the toilet. I do feel very weak and weedy though.
Can anyone think of some yummy snack-like foods that I might want to eat? Currently I'm just not getting hungry so I can't think of anything I might want to eat.

A very *good bettering* to you today!
Yay about your showering schedule! It has changed considerably and lasted a whileI always wanted the smells of the hospital off me right away.
Not a huge importance to have meals and probably better off without until you are really ready. Small nibbles and grazing could be better all around.
If you had a tube down you through surgery it is often a nagging discomfort to swallowing. Lots of liquids and maybe some prepared nibbles ready on a platter for when you can graze.
Pieces of cheese-meat or fruit and biscuits-crackers things that are fairly healthy and easy to fix and leave ready in the frigerator.
Fruit would be excellant if you are prone to constipation. The pain medications can give you a horrible block in that way which can make you feel worse just as you are getting better otherwise. Moving also helps that but of course you are limited.
The medications and left over surgery anesthesia can do a job on your head for a while. The nose bleeds should be reported unless they said it could be expected. Your blood might be a bit thinned.
You sound pretty darn good considering all you have been through.

Hey wait!! what do you mean about my showering schedule!? I ALWAYS shower! I just don't change my clothes is all.
I've just been given curry for dinner because dad isn't thinking about anyone except himself today (This is a long ongoing thing not just the curry ) and I can't eat it. Never mind. Mam's got a cold so I can't bug her so eventually I may have to make my way downstairs myself to find something.
I ate a whole bag of raw chopped carrots and a small tub of houmous on Wednesday. That was nice and I could just graze on it all day so I didn't notice how much I was eating.
I'm wondering if the sore throat is a cold or something actually because mam got home and started complaining of a sore throat and bunged up ears and a funny temperature. Hmmm...ill and post-op! Wahoo!
I feel alrightish...although I suspect some of it is because my parents are being such today that I've switched into 'I'm perfectly fine so tell me all your woes and complaints' mode.

EEk!
Yikes so sorry about misunderstanding the meanings between talking of showers-changing clothes. I wrongly put them together when you were having an extra hard time a while back.
*slaps self*
I am very sorry Kat.

Well I'll admit that the clothing changing thing is a problem. I'm always clean...just my covering isn't.
