Yes, he knows it, Elentari. And still he insists on having everything his way.
So, it's not yet over. After work today, I spent time on the phone again to confirm (if possible) the place for the work practice. At first I was on hold for 20 minutes, then I gave up. tried again later and was successful, but again, the person in charge wasn't there, so we'll have to wait for him to call back and say yes or no.
We'll have (or rather son) to go to the registration office and order the good conduct certificate (again. This will be the third time within two years). Then we'll have to go to the employment centre and request for them to pay the school fees. And then we'll have to get all the certificates and signed contracts to the school until 30th. That's this Friday. And my son doesn't help with any of it because now he says he never wanted to do it in the first place.

I just hope for your sake that he sticks at it once he's in.
My sister-in-law's boyfriend cares for the elderly. He is such a cheerful, optimistic type, you can't help but cheering up when he's around. But he works for a private care company and sometimes has double shifts. It must be exhausting, but very rewarding as he so gladly does it.

Well, it's not looking good. The place where he had applied to for the work practice told him TODAY (after we called there a gazillion times) that it would take at least three weeks for them to MAYBE accept him because the Betriebsrat (take your pick: http://dict.leo.org/?lp=ende&search=Betriebsrat) would have to agree!
He then called the school again, who were suddenly very weird, but told him three addresses where he could call. Btw, they said they had sent the confirmation straight away, and that it had come back to them. Then they sent it a second time, and this time it arrived. That's for all those who believe in the German mail system being efficient.

Sorry about the lack of news, but it took a while to get sorted, and then h2g2 was in transition.
Sooo, news then. And GOOOOOOD news.
After it all looked very bleak, school told him to start there anyway and take it from there. We had a couple more frustrating experiences with work places saying maybe, then saying it was at too short notice a week later etc.
So, he was very frustrated but went to school as asked. Told them that he had no idea where to get the work place. Then school asked within their own institution and he got an appointment with somebody two days later. What they talked about don't know. But he now has a contract for the practical part, too.
Woot!
Tzhere was a LOT of paper work to sort out afterwards which wasn't helped by the fact that his ID card was invalid and he needed a new one, but we're nearly there now.
He's gone to school for two weeks now and after the initial complaints (due to the frustration and all the bureaucratic hell he had to go through) he has calmed down now.

Please give him my best wishes. It was something I did in day-release work-experience at school and loved it. My career just took a different route, so I can appreciate what he's going into.
I know he'll make you proud.
And well done you for everything you've done.
Don't forget to praise yourself and pat yourself on the back, and if you can, treat yourself once he's settled. You deserve it.
